Great video. Amex Platinum is giving some folks x10 points on gas. Gives status at Marriott, Hilton and lots of rental car companies!!

Yo my WF Propel’s back must be hurting for carrying me. It’s a one man wrecking crew!

The Citi Costco card isn’t bad either….4% gas, 3% dining and travel, and no foreign transaction fees (if you’re roadtripping to Canada or Mexico).

Great video topic!

We've done 2 short road trips recently. Right now im using my 2 credit union cards:
Andrews TVS – 3x gas or groceries
NIHFCU TVS – 3x travel & dining till 4/1/21 then 2x

However, in the future im thinking i might apply for the Citi Premier or Prestige for their hotel benefit. Since i already have the citi double cash i could convert the casback to TY pts.

I wonder if credit card companies consider supercharging for electric cars as “gas”

Road Trip cards are very underrated. Going to parks and traveling to cool places is way better than flying and dealing with all the BS during these times.

Once I leave Hawaii I never want to fly again, I've been on wayyyy too many flights from Korea and Japan back to the east coast USA. Road trips from here on out!

I never looked at the PNC Cash Rewards before.
A significant percentage of my spend is in convenience stores, probably $20/day, year-round. Most of them bill as "gas station." That's over $7k/yr, which would put me just under their $8k/yr limit. I have the PenFed Platinum rewards which gives 5x (usually 4.25%) back on gas paid at the pump, but using that PNC card for 4% back on the stuff I buy in the store could save me around $300/yr.

This a good video. I'm an Iraq vet and I am unable to fly due trauma in service, so all my trips are road trips. Another video that I'd loved to see, is one I know credit youtuber avoid. Typically, breakdowns on the value of credit cards are based on the quantitative analysis of point valuations. I would love to see a video breaking down the credit card companies on a more qualitative basis. For example, I agree that on paper the Citi Premier is a great card. That being said I hate it, and am reducing it to a double cash at my soonest convenience. The reason: Their customer service is garbage. I have more Amex cards than really make sense for someone in situation simply because every time I've called Amex, I get a knowledgeable person on the phone who does everything they can to solve my issue. I just got my first Barclays card and spent an hour (literally a goddamn hour), just to get a simple confirmation. So while the valuations are important, and, all things being equal should be the primary concern, all things are not equal.

Hilton Honors credit card: 7x for hilton spending, and 5x on dinning and car gas. No annual fee.

Citi Premier: 3x for hotels, dinning, and car gas. Only a $95 annual fee.

CSR: Free rental car insurance, $300 annual travel credit, 3x on dinning and tolls, and Hyatt as a transfer partner. However, $550 annual fee.

I love to mix in the US Bank Altitude Reserve. I don't like to "earn points" on motels & car rentals, b/c I want the points I already have earned to pay for them! The AR works great for a rental car (if at least $250) because you can pay for it, get Primary Coverage, and then use Real Time Rewards to cover the charge.

You should (or have you already) made a video about how often to apply for new cards. Just got denied for having opened too many cards recently and am wondering how long I should wait .
Thanks
