My favorite which I use is the Citi premier with the free 2% cash back which makes the best setup for under $100. You will earn more points than the sapphire preferred. Although the US partners are limited its ok if you live in NY as jetblue goes everywhere. I travel alot and never used insurance and never had an incident that an airline wouldn't pay me back for

The CSP must be one of the most overrated cards out there. Good SUB but then no perks to help offset the annual fee.

Travel Rewards card was one of our first. We get 2.25x on everything.

The Marriott Bonvoy Boundless gets the free night, 2x on “ everything else”, and offers some travel protections. Annual Fee is $95.

Great video, I think if I could only do one card under $100, it would be the BofA premium rewards, and runner up would be the Hilton Surpass.

BofA premium rewards card, for $95, you get 3.5% on dining and broad travel, 2.625% on everything else, a ton of travel protections, no foreign transaction fees, $100 annual airline credit, $100 global entry credit, and you could combine it with a few cash rewards cards for 5.25% cash back on other categories like gas and online shopping, 3.5% on groceries and costco, so the setup earns a ton of cash back…

The Hilton surpass, for $95 annual fee gets 6x on dining, groceries, and gas so its a decent daily spend card, gets you priority pass good for 10 free visits each year, hilton gold status making your hilton spend 30x points, including free breakfast, late checkout, room upgrades, etc., a free weekend night each calendar year (which means you can get potentially 2 free weekend nights in your first year, signup bonus aside) after $15k in spending… If its basically your main card, $15k in spend in a year is definitely easy to hit… If you spend $40k in a year, you also get upgraded to hilton diamond status

A card that I have used for 15 years is the AAA credit card, which used to just 5% rebate on gas station purchases, but got changed about 5 years ago to AAA Member Rewards Visa.

I am not sure if you need to be a AAA member to apply but it gives 3% cash back on travel and AAA purchases, 2% cash back on gas, grocery stores, wholesale clubs, and drug stores, and 1% on anything else. Points convert to a check or statement credit. No annual fee and no foreign transaction fees.

Oh wow Propel change their sign up bonus… When I got it last year it was if you spend 3k you get 30,000 points. I think this one is a way better deal!

Great video! Hilton Surpass has been a great card for me. Good SUB, nice multipliers, Gold Status, 10 lounge passes, free night after $15k (really about 2-3 nights with spend multiplier). Not a flex points currency, but great card. Trying out the Citi Premier, Double Cash, Rewards+ combo this year as well. Great setup under $100.

I am one of those people who travels 1-2 times a year and for me the CSR is still a better option even with the new $550 AF. As soon as I hit that 13 mo mark I’m upgrading.

If I was to go for only one of those cards it would be the BoA Premium Rewards card. Great idea for a video as it give the infrequent traveler options to look at. Take care and happy travels!

I want the Wells Fargo Propel card; what is the score are they looking for that card? what are the approval odds? Are they easy to get. My Experian FICO is 708 right now.

From this video, I actually think the best overall CARD is the Venture (can’t believe I’m saying this as I don’t really like CO). It appears the others are best used in a card (Chase/Wells Fargo) or banking (BOA) combination. In my opinion, this is the best travel card for general spend since the cancellation of the Barclaycard Arrival Plus (RIP).

On another note, I appreciate your viewpoint about creating a points channel that is geared to the average consumer. Not all of us need a high fee premium card to travel for less. Keep up the good work.

Are Airline cards ever worth it over a card directly from the bank? As an example, the United Mileage Plus cards over a card directly from Chase?

I like my Gold Delta through American Express. I got a 60K sign up bonus and it now has a 2X multiplier on grocery/dining with free checked bag and priority boarding. $99/year.
