Even though the this is a major negative for consumers, it could make a lot of business sense for Uber. Giving out Uber Cash rather than cash rewards lessens their cash liability and at the same times provides an incentive to use Uber over Lyft. Obviously none of this matters if usage of this card completely tanks.
hard pass on uber card, getting a savior card!
Only makes sense for hardcore Uber users now. Glad I went for the Amex Gold instead, with a backup 3% cash back on dining.
Idk how Uber thought this was a good business move. They just lost a customer for both Uber and Uber eats. I will be using my chase sapphire to pay for Lyft and Grubhub. I can’t support a business that baits-and-switches their customers. While the 5% cash back for Uber actually works in my favor, I hate being deceived. So goodbye Uber
This is so sad. So sad.
Banks pulling back benefits in mass like this is never a good sign. The game is about to shift. Be ready guys.
Maybe they decided to just concentrate on super uber users, which could be their adjusted business model. As far as the dining, maybe CSR and the AMEX gold was too much competition.
Yup…all that stuff that you just said. Until I got this notice (yesterday), this card was on my personal "If I could only have two cash back credit cards" list. After the changes take effect, it won't even be able to be ON a cash back card list…since..ya know…no cash back.
This might be an "ok" change for someone living in a population center…maybe they use Uber all the time. I live in a town of less than five thousand…lost in the middle of a cornfield. Soooo, probably not much value for me (or others in smaller communities) to get my rewards in Uber Cash.
Kind of irritated that I burned a hard inquiry on this card earlier this year. Ah well. I suppose that's how the game is played. I'll use the card through November, cash out my money in December, and then just spend a dollar on it a couple times a year to keep the account active.
As a active consumer though, I do know how to vote with my wallet (e.g. October 10th this year marked ten years since I purchased anything at Wal-Mart), so I hope Barclays/Uber aren't relying on my swipes for positive cash flow.
I don't use Uber. Should I cash out my rewards now?
is there a Product Change from the Uber visa card?
"Like" if you would like to "Grandfathered In" with the old benefits.
Lets get the word out! Who's with me! Grandfathered In! Grandfathered In!
Great video!
Did u know, even with the 5% off Uber, Lyft is STILL CHEAPER
You can't even use the points abroad
Apple Card gives you 3% on Uber rides booked with your iphone (apple pay). Also, Uber rides are generally 5-10% higher in price than LYFT.
Using my Chase Sapphire Preferred from here on in. When it's used on dining or travel (2x points) then transferred to a partner with good rewards system (Hyatt points = 2 cents per point) it all works out to 4% return.
I'm so glad I didn't get this card. I was seriously considering it for dinning. but now, hell na.
looks like I'll be rotating btwn my dis. it & freedom now.
Ok so 2 per question. 1 so if you file a claim and it is denied for whatever reason then 6 months later you file another one and that is accepted does the one you first first count as a claim in your 12 month period? And 2nd does a used phone you brought that is paid off and is now under your plan be considered part of the protection plan?
Good old BAIT N SWITCH
More like uber trash😂
