Paying rent with a credit card typically cost fee to where using your reward credit card isn’t worth it. But Bilt Rewards changes that, launching a new rewards program to help renters improve their credit, put them on a path towards homeownership, and earn rewards when they pay with the Bilt Credit card. The Bilt credit card has some really good redemptions, including some valuable transfer partners you won’t see with Chase, American Express, or Citi.

So if my monthly payment is $800 and I don't get the credit card I would get 400 points a month? And that would be $4.00 a month if used for travel?
Bye Chase!!!!! Chase is officially the least innovative company today as another company has not only snagged Hyatt but even got Aeroplan and Flying Blue. Also can we talk about how they also got Citi's most valuable partner Turkish Airlines??? This will be my go to card now for rent
Looks like you are the first to cover this on YouTube.👍 How many points do we receive on the non-rent category spending?
I am still waiting on a credit card to earn points while paying for my monthly mortgage without a fee of course, hopfully soon 🙂
I fail to understand how this is better than using PPK on a Double Cash or CFU. You pay some minimal fee and don’t have to tie up thousands in spend.
So you can use the Bilt app/service to pay rent with your own credit card? (like Costco Citi Visa), I wonder if the card itself would pay that 1% "all other purchases" category. 🤔
Plastic better start looking at unemployment 😂😂🤣
Great information! I'm curious if the BiltProtect will earn the same amount of points. Will definitely look into this program
So much that is unique and innovative here! Thanks for explaining it.
Can we attach another CC to Bilt app to use app to pay rent with? Thereby earning welcome bonus. Like w Plastiq.
I rather pay the fee than use plastiq if I am working on a sing up bonus than go through their messy system that sometimes does not work because checks never arrived or don't arrived on time!
How does Bilt make money and is it sustainable?
So if you don’t spend any money on the card other than your rent, you don’t earn anything?
What If your rental company doesn’t accept credit cards? Will it work like plastiq where you get a act and routing number?
This would be a phenomenal card for someone who just moved out of their parents’ home, graduated from college, and/or started their first job. And a great card for the long term, especially if buying a home sooner is one of their goals. I wonder how much of a credit history (or specific credit score) you need to have to get the card.
At the very least this could be a great alternative to plastiq for getting sign up bonuses.
WOW … So AA said yes to Bilt but no to their own card issuing partners (Citi / Barclays) 🤣 ❗️Unbelievable. That aside, great video review, Dustin! 🥇
Love the innovation here but I agree this is definitely not for everyone. Thinking about the opportunity cost, I personally don’t think tying up those amounts of monthly spend in a 1x card beats using my whole rewards portfolio earning me 4-5X in many categories.
I may have missed this info somewhere but say im renting a house and my landlord/owner isnt apart of the Bilt Rewards Alliance can I still use this card to pay rent and acquire points?
I think this card looks pretty amazing for a lot of renters. Most places that I've encountered will charge about a 3% "convenience fee" for paying rent with a card (if they even offer the service), and Plastiq charges almost the same (so usually only good for hitting big minimum spends for new card sign up bonuses). But if this card earns any rewards at all, it's going to beat putting the charge on a 2% card. Using your $1,500/month example, even at the lowest (Blue) level, a 2% card would only be a better option if the landlord doesn't charge fees for paying with a card…otherwise that 2% card is a net loss every month ($45 in fees and $30.90 in rewards) . But not having to pay the roughly 3% fees AND getting some rewards to boot…that's makes it swing from a $14.10 loss to literally ANY gain…whatever that gain is going to be.
And the $250 required spending to hit the Blue Tier only gets you another $5 in rewards on the 2% card. So The very best you could do with a 2% card is to pay your rent with a check…and use the 2% card on $250 of non-bonus spend for a positive result of $5/month. But if you use Built on that $250 of non-bonus spend and your rent you end up with 1,000 points that might be worth about $18 in Hyatt points or $15 towards a house down payment. Doesn't seem like much, but if you rent for five or six years…even the lowest tier can get the cardholder around $1,000 if/when they decide to purchase. And that's better than the big fat nothing that writing checks gets them.
So on the surface, I think it looks great. But I just wonder how the company is going to make it's money…because they will. Normally card services and lenders make their money from where we swipe. So those places increase their prices a bit to compensate. And if that becomes the case here…might be tough to call this a win for the renter.
Nice job on the video man! First one I've seen on this card.
any idea if this would work for co-op maintenance fees?
I don’t get how you can pay rent with this card? Can you break that down again? Do they have to be renting from black rock?
I really appreciate your time spent on explaining this credit card program. I tried to pay my rent with a credit card before in order to reach the spending amount quickly to receive the sign on incentives and the company that the management used charged $47 based on my rent and it went as high as $75, which was a deal breaker. Thanks again
Need one for mortgage
Great video and first on this card. Side ? Anyway to get 2 Hyatt cards ?
Why am I NOT getting any of your notifications??!!
what about a house can we use the credit card as well
Who else is her because you just found out Dr Oz daughter just launched her card and want to know if this is another scam or something else with your name on it?
I've read several articles on this today and this is BY FAR the best and most logical explanation I've seen. Fantastic video as always Dustin. Thanks so much for the detailed walkthrough! 🙂
Can you use it to pay mortgage?
They got American??? AMERICAN????
Great breakdown Dustin! I would definitely consider this if I was renting. I'd love to see you do a video comparing Cardpointers, Award Wallet, Wallet Flo, Max Rewards and Travel Freely. So many options!
Nice idea, but not really worth it for me. It’s interesting to see how they got AA and Hyatt as partners.
Wow that's amazing. Hopefully this becomes a trend
So landlords looking at credit scores will actually become relevant?!
Intriguing! This could be very popular, but making this your daily driver is not my favorite. Great video man take care and keep moving forward!
Interesting card and nice video Dustin. You had me so focused on you not looking at the camera lol.
Hello my friend, Can I Pay my cars leases with this program ???
Hey guys have you ever wanted to pay your mortgage with a credit card…. Yeah me too
So below $250 non-rent spend you don’t get any rewards points?
Airbnb host here, can you pay multiple rents (I have 3) and still get the benefit on all or just 1 rent payment per month?
I am looking for an invite for BILT credit card. Please let me know if anyone can do that.
It's not really free since they still expect you to spend at least $250 each month.
I was invited by my new landlord to apply for this card. Maybe the approval odds are defined by the invitation from the landlord since they already conducted a credit check?!
Nice video!
