Did you know there is a Chase Sapphire no annual fee version? No? Well there is, and you can downgrade to it from the Chase Sapphire Reserve or Chase Sapphire Preferred. This is just one of the downgrade options we look at from a variety of Chase cards you may have, including Chase UR points earning cards, Chase business cards, Chase Southwest Airlines cards, Chase Marriott Cards and Chase United cards.

Once you downgrade, how long must you wait to re-upgrade? Thank you.
Anyone know, can you product change from Freedom to plain Sapphire? Thanks
I've had a Freedom Unlimited for almost a year. Will I be able to downgrade to a regular Freedom once that year mark is reached? I'm also at 5 cards for the Chase 5/24 rule.
Great video! downgrade options are great for Chase!! Great all around cards, and I definitely prefer them over Amex
the sapphire regular can be a decent downgrade for a temporary time since it still has all the travel and purchase insurance benefits if you do road trip only travels during a recession.. you can upgrade anyway once recession is over..
Odd question what does the chase sapphire no af card look like? is it just the preferred card without the word preferred?
It was definitively a hard decision to downgrade from the CSR to Freedom. However, with my travel plans in the next 12 months, I don't think it makes sense to keep paying the AF for services I likely won't be using. On the flip side, I now have two Freedoms that will earn 5% next quarter on groceries! Time to hoard some TPs at 5% back!
Southwest just recently added that your point don't expire but if you try to close the Southwest airlines card to avoid the annual they take 25% of your points. My mom and dad tried cancel and they were going to about 10,000 points each to cancel. The operator on the phone said to use them or have something book and they can't take 25% for canceling the card.
Hi credit Shifu!
Can I upgrade my Chase Slate to Sapphire Preferred after a year.??
Can I transfer points from the Freedom Student to the CSP like what I can do between the trifecta? I am thinking of getting the student card so…
hey credit shifu does the chase sapphire regular have foreign transaction fee?
Thank you 😊
They knocked it down to 450 for this year, check your chase messages
My wife and I both have the CSR separately, is there a downgrade path to add her as an authorized user $95 AF on my card and eliminate her card? Thanks
It appears that Chase Freedom has kept the Streaming Services as a 5% Bonus category for Q2 2020. This is a good move by Chase in response to more people being at home because of the COVID-19 crisis. Streaming Services was a previous Freedom Bonus Category for Q1 2020.
One question, I upgrade my csp on 11/1/2019 to csr, but now I want to downgrade my csr. So it is less than one year but I assume csr is not the new account since I didn’t get opening bouns. So can I downgrade my csr now or I need to wait until one year?
Any site that details the Chase Sapphire (no annual fee) benefits? For example, does it still have no foreign transaction fees? Etc.
Is there time requirement for re-upgrading after downgrading?
shifu how do I down grade the card we’re do I go to do that??
Hey everyone. I have a CSP and have always planned on downgrading after the first year. However, if I downgrade to the no fee sapphire card, am I eligible to upgrade back up to either the CSP or CSR with a new intro bonus after 48 months from the card’s application approval date? I am looking to use 4 years of accumulated points for a honeymoon/wedding travel expenses 3 years from now as I just hit my one year with the CSP. Any info from anyone would be such a great help. Thanks!!
Great video. I just downgraded
I have CSP, is the best strategy to use the points before I downgrade so that they do not reduce in value?
Credit Shifu – after downgrading united explorer to United mileage plus, can I again apply for explorer aiming for signup bonus?
i have the CSP and freedom flex. I wish i could downgrade my CSP to freedom unlimited but i wont because i want the transfer partners
So if I can't get a welcome bonus can I have my wife apply for a card and make me an authorized user, then transfer her points to my account later?
For point 5. downgrade within 30 days… this mean within 30 days of your 2nd year right? I have gotten my sapphire rewards points within 30 days of this first year, according to your first point, I do have to wait a full calendar year before downgrading.. but can I downgrade before that second annual fee, or do I have to wait until after year 2 begins, then request a refund within 30 days?
The normal chase sapphire does unfortunately have a foreign transaction fee
I am planning to downgrade my CSR due to the annual fee and lack of travel. I am thinking of downgrading my card to regular Chase Sapphire. Let me know if this is the right decision.
– I already have a Chase Freedom and Freedom Unlimited.
– I have Amex Gold Card that gives 4x on travel and Food. However, not many restaurants accept Amex.
– i do eat out a lot but I do not really travel.
Can I upgrade my regular chase sapphire to CSR in the future when I do plan to travel?
If I upgrade to CSR, will my points worth 1.5PP again?
