The Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Sapphire Reserve and the JP Morgan Reserve are offering some new credits for the fitness service Peloton. In addition there is a 100k mail in offer on the CSR which I am sure some people will be interested in. This comes just one day after Amex introduced a new Uber credit on the Amex Gold.

AMEX won this battle but will they win the war?

So Amex makes me fat with the Uber Eats promo, and Chase is trying to guilt me into working off those calories with the Peloton offer.

I’m pissed he got that great offer for the CSR. I got the CSR in January and now I’m salty. I haven’t been able to enjoy the card due to covid.

Nice haircut. I have the chase reserve and I DO NOT like these benefits as I have no interest in peloton anything but I use uber eats so this is just annoying. Good video as usual.

As a JPMorgan Reserve card holder and a Peloton member, this was a welcome perk! Hope to see more like this!

How often should you apply for new cards? How many inquiries is too many?

As a CSR holder, this peleton thing is idiotic. IDK how that ever got approved. I renew my annual fee in November. Chase has a year to update the CSR like the just did with the flex otherwise i'm downgrading and will probably switch to AMEX gold and platinum. Love my CSR but pointless for the same 3x back as the flex.

So just 3 months of Peloton from this credit?

Reply
LoveGixx October 27, 2020 - 8:49 pm

.. i bank with Chase and love their services but needs to up their game.. im certain food wins over exercising.. annual fee is not worth the points giving.. people can also and most rather use outdoor exercising for free.. are you still receiving any credit card junk mail?.. id like to see lore vids!..

I actually have really liked the Peloton Digital Access. They have so many classes, from yoga to strength, to walking and running audio tracks. It's been a great substitute while I'm not able to go to the gym or spin studio. I think this is a better COVID perk than people are giving it credit for.

Getting a free rotisserie chicken (Citi Costco Visa offer from 2017) would have been better than these Peloton credits.

How about just lowering the annual fee by $120 than this useless ass peloton credit. I would’ve preferred an annual PornHub elite status

This is garbage I can’t believe they came back with a peloton discount; 90% of us don’t even use that! I want more multipliers

Hey I have one of those over priced bike! It's my wife's and so loves it so I love it. Doesn't Amex Platinum have a relationship with a gym-equinox and was offering a digital coupon? THIS IS WAR!!!

I appreciate the effort from Chase, but this is a pretty useless benefit 😐

Reply
Bernard Silver October 27, 2020 - 11:51 pm

This reminds me of the Calm App that Amex is giving free to some card holders. Some of them are going to find the Calm app useful, and others might try it because it's there, and maybe/maybe not be converted. But it doesn't really add value for most. As seen in the comments here, same reaction on this: a few are going "Great!" but most are not!

I agree with you, AMEX wins hands down. Peloton? That's ridiculous. Only a small select people are going to utilize this. If they raise the annual fee because of this, the value of Chase is definitely going down.

I couldn't care less about the Peloton credits. The 100,000 points on the CSR caught my eye, though! Too bad it's targeted only.

I finally gave in and got the Sapphire Preferred and thankfully was approved. This is my first “tier 3” (or is it 2? I forgot lol) now I gotta spend $4k in the next 3 months for those sweet 80k points

Chase needs to add some new benefits that are useful for people other than middle aged upper class women. Love the CSR but can’t justify a $550 AF without some LEGIT new features

3:57 $1 mil in credit?! Chase has been good to him!

Reply
CorgiFluff October 28, 2020 - 7:19 am

This credit is totally useless and is way too niche. 👀 Chase should have done something that would benefit a wider audience. I'm not exactly thrilled about their future collab either. Again, it's too niche. Chase, please add some permanent bonuses that people will ACTUALLY take advantage of.

Reply
Joe Gugel October 28, 2020 - 7:40 am

I may be missing it in terms, but I don't see anything that says the credit is $10/mo over 12 months. As someone who will have to "remember" to use Uber Eats each month to gain that small value monthly, and who uses the Peloton Digital, I am wholly in the other camp of enthusiasm here for Chase winning this round.

Reply
Barry Britt October 28, 2020 - 8:45 am

Not a credit I would use. I don't use Peloton even though indoor biking is part of my exercise program. Guess it will benefit some. Great info as always Credit Shifu. Thanks!!

The Peloton credit is just as much of a waste of money than getting a Peloton itself. Get a real bike and enjoy cycling through the city or nature.
