The Chase Sapphire Reserve, the popular sister card to the Chase Sapphire Preferred seems to be getting a new design, or at least Chase is considering it according to a recent survey. The card is overdue for a revamp to compete with the Amex Gold and new Amex Green.

I would prefer increase the annual fee rather than using other cards for higher reward points

Same design , more multipliers, card weight and feel should mimic that of the old ritz carlton card.

Who cares the CSR is irrelevant now because of Amex Green

5x on dining would be amazing!

Forget a card redesign. They need to make the sapphire family more competitive against amex.

I say keep the original design just make it heavier so we can flex 💪. An all black card with a silver chase design would look good

Lol this doesn’t matter at all. Hopefully this design change comes with new benefits!!

Although I'd like to see a new design for the CSR, NONE of the suggested changes are worth changing the original design.

The current design looks the best. the other design looks horrible. and I hate when bank put the chip on the right so the strip has to go to the bottom and the whole card feels inverted and that just feels bad.

They might as well leave it the same.

My money goes on the Preferred card from a few years back; deep dark midnight blue with almost solid color.

Can’t believe they would waste time and money on redesigning the card. It looks fine just as it is.

First off.. AMEX Platinum "lite"? Don't think so dude. You can fool yourself that AMEX is better if you want but fine. Is that card great? Sure. But I'll take CSR over it any day of the week. I want REAL travel credits not some pinball game where I have to do this and do that to get it. Now that is out of the way… I don't care for any of the new designs. Chase needs to make the CSR look like a gem.. a real sapphire… not a bunch of lines hidden in some dark forest. Maybe they should hire Jonny Ive to design the new version of the card. That would be an improvement.

Forget the design, lets talk about adding dining and raising 3x categories to 4x; and maybe a 4x category for department stores liike Walmart and Target.

Please don't mess with CSR, its fine the way it is. How about instead changing the preferred, so that it compliments the reserve the way the gold amex goes with the platinum. And get rid of the only one Sapphire rule. Not liking the trend of increasing AF's for lame new "benefits."

We don't need a card redesign. It's fine as it is. Or if they want to change it, can they at least wait until I get it? LOL

But is amex gold really better than chase sapphire reserve for dining? It may be 3x but technically the points are more like 4.5x when you redeem on the Chase bc the points are 50% more valuable. Am I wrong?

I would be happy if they made the card plastic and a more boring design. Since the card is used at a lot of restaurants the fancy metal card makes you a target. My card was hacked earlier this year.

Chase needs to almost completely rebrand their cards. It isn't obvious what's higher between Preferred and Reserve and Freedom vs Freedom Unlimited barely makes sense either.

I wish the Sapphire Reserve was available in Canada. The best card we have is the AMEX plat and it's still not as good as the US version.

Current design is fine, compared to their "samples" of 1 to 5. Those are nowhere near "better" than the current design, imo. But they definitely need to revamp or step-up some perks when it comes to the competition. AND, most certainly not take anything away. Lately many issuers are just subtracting benefits while keeping or increasing annual fees.

I would leave the design the same but make it all metal. Maybe titanium.

Create an even more integrated ecosystem by stacking benefits from lower tier cards. So if you have the Chase Freedom Unlimited then the CSR gives 1.5% back on all purchases too. If you have the Chase Freedom, CSR gives 5% on whichever category is active during that quarter. If you have both, stack the benefits from both.

As for upgrading the benefits, I would say adding gas to the travel category would be a huge draw. Of course then you’d have overlap with the Chase Freedom, which is ok, but the Freedom would still give more during its gas quarter.

Improving travel to 5x to match the Amex Platinum would be good too.

Of course this would probably mean increasing the annual fee to $550 too.

They could also add something like department stores to the CSR which they already do sometimes with the CF. Then remove that from the CF and give it another quarter of gas or groceries.

They're going to follow UBER and make the rewards available only as a Chase credit for banker fees.

I think changing to look of the card makes sense considering so many other premium cards have the same colors and design. They're all blue, black and silver. I feel like my wallet is full of blue, black and silver cards

Yes, CSR was kinda outclassed by Prestige, before Citi removed travel protections. CSR doesn't give you 4th night free, and 5x on dining, airlines and OTA. Rarely use CSR these days – only for hotels, and travel, other than airlines and OTAs. Citi Premier also gives you 3x for gas, and all the travel, but only 2x on dining, which is irrelevant now with introduction of 2x conversion on Double Cash, for $95 AF. Except removing travel protections, Citi is really kicking Chase's butt. My wallet mostly consists of Citi and Amex cards right now, in addition to Altitude Reserve in Samsung Pay. I don't really use Chase cards right now for everyday purchases, except for MS.

I think the current design looks fine. I just wish Chase would change to using the smaller chips (on all their cards). I HATE the large ones.

I prefer a lot more color, but maybe with pure black for the left third to drive home it is like a black card. The Sapphire Preferred is far more eye catching than the current Reserve.

Chase is the only credit card company without a permanent grocery category on their personal cards. How about 3x on reserve, 2x on preferred and freedoms.
