They ruined their relationship with me after cancelling my card. Chase flagged multiple ACHs in a day as suspicious and blocked payment to AMEX. Amex subsequently cancelled my cards and told me to pound sand. They suck.

By driving the Platinum Card fees ever higher Amex is pushing customers to give up the card or find creative ways to extract value.
With Amex rolling back lounge access for Platinum card holders next year, expect hordes of cancellations.

If someone is in college and doesn't really have a lot of money, they why do they have a $695 AF credit card?

I love this actually. I'm not a platinum card holder- actually have 0 interest in it. But I love amex closing loopholes and wish they'd limit retention offers to 2 per cardholder. Just for some objectivity

If you have two cards with two separate people owning the card. That isn’t gaming that is using both cards you paid for the annual fees… Amex can screw themselves on that one.

This is a pretty understandable change. If you really wanted the extra credits i would just change hotels back and forth. I feel like that is the most reasonable way to get the extra credits.

Amex hasn't been awarding me correct hilton points recently because the merchants arent 'coded' in their system as restaurant, even though they are concession stands (concession is clearly 'eating places' but becausr they are coded as 'business services' amex wont give the restaurant points). All my other cards from visa, mastercard are coded correctly but amex refused to correct the issue, contact merchant to fix it or award me the points i am due. Retention even told me to contact the merchant and ask them to code themselves correctly in their POS (like they would even know what im talking about?!? Lol) i spoke to 2 retention employees and a manager at amex, worst experience they refused to correct the issue. Seems like amex policies are changing all around.

meh, doesn't change a thing. for those who don't mind merging reservations, it's the same old $100 dining credit for the entire stay. for those playing 2-player mode and changing rooms in the same hotel, there is no way amex or the hotel will ever find out, even if the hotel does find out somehow, i highly doubt they would care one bit. and amex will never be able to prove you are gaming the system by just looking at both bookings between player 1 and 2. it's a whole lot of nothing, they are just adding the verbiage to set a precedent.

What about back to back at a Conrad or Waldorf that are in FHR using one Platinum and one Aspire card?

How can you game it? You are still spending money.

I wonder if its also per card, like if you have two different versions of the platinum and a business platinum. Meanwhile, while Amex is trying to find even more ways to take away benefits from their users, every other card issuer on earth couldn't give a shit how/when/where/why/ I split up my hotel stays. Something to think about…

I have found the FHR credit so difficult to use! I mainly use my Hilton credit cards and points for stays, which are usually multi-day trips. I don’t tend to stay at higher end places, unless it’s free/with points. So what I need to do is book 1-2 nights at such a place to use the credit for a short trip. But it really is not easy to use if you are kinda locked into brand loyalty or a hotel points strategy….

This isn’t new right? You can’t book b2b reservations at 1 property but hotel hopping in Vegas is still valid, right?

Amex will never find out. I will continue to book the odd days and P2 will book even days. $175 for Authorized users is paid for a reason. To get more than what you paid for. $100 dinner and free breakfast daily for minimal effort. If they have terms, then they will need to find a way to enforce it.
