The Discover it Cash Back card is a strong favorite of many cash back credit card enthusiasts and they have just released the cash back categories for 2021 in which cardholders will be able to earn 5%. Of course the Discover it is rivaled by the Chase Freedom Flex and Freedom Unlimited who will come out with their own set of categories.

Q1 does nothing for me since I’ll be using my Chase Freedom Flex for groceries during the first year.

Need to throw my Youtube premium on the card.

Tip: You can ask for cash back to “spend” more on your Discover It card at Safeway.

…..Almost the same lol For all practical purposes, it's the same. I'm not disappointed though. 5% cash back is 5% cash back.

So now I have filled in yet more cells on my credit card excel workbook. This is like the modern version of coupon clipping combined with a hobby. Tons of minutiae of information and work and time.

I love that Discover releases the calendar 2 months before the year starts. Really helps with game planning your spend across the various cards we may have in the rotation. tho, It does give Chase at least 4 days a year of owning Credit Card YouTube headlines. These categories all look solid to me!

Kudos to Discover for releasing all the categories for next year this early. Chase is always "chasing" behind in announcing their categories. I tried to max out the cb on my Discover card before my Chase freedom card.

Love the categories, and the order they're going to run in. I also think Discover releases their full calendar…MOSTLY for the benefit of Chase. It's in Discover's interest that the Freedom (Flex) not overlap them in any quarter. Since the removal of most of Discover's purchase protections (plus the potential of using the UR points on a Sapphire card), I imagine most people would gravitate towards using the FF if both cards had overlapping categories.

Does anyone know if you add cash back at the grocery store if there is a fee and/or if it counts towards the 5 percent cash back bonus? Trying to max out for this quarter.

The title reminds me of those old discover commercials which went like this following (this was not one of them):
“Hidden ocean, sky that’s blue,
Hated by the IAU,
Big heart glacier, 5 known moons
Icy spike things, geyser plumes,
Give this rock it’s status back,
New Horizons, 5% cash back
Get 5% cash back on the Pluto book “Chasing New Horizons”, when you switch to discover

Its annoying that its up to $1500 per quarter. I easily surpass that amount.
