I was going to say SoFi when you said "t-shirt" 😅 I did refinance to SoFi myself for 2 years at 5% but then refinanced again to First Republic Bank for 2.5% which is just amazing. They actually gave a cash incentive of $200 to refinance and since then, I've done 5-10 referrals to them at $500 a piece. I did pharmacy school too and racked up $210k, so any reduction in interest is greatly welcomed. Slated to finish by 2021 at this point ✌
I am fortunate that my school accepts credit cards for payment with no processing fee! So I’m already earning points/miles by paying off my student loans.
You could refinance… OR if you already have done this use credit cards to pay off your student loans with plastiq! I use the CFU card which gets me 3% back for the first year. Plastic does have a fee of 2.5% but if you do the math I’m actually saving money and making points doing this. You also could use the Discover it Miles card and get 3% back for the first year. Just gotta use a card that offers more than the 2.5% fee plastiq charges!

I've been debating on whether or not to refinance some of my student loans. Half of them are at 6.8% which isn't terrible but they're climbing fast. Navient sucks. 😣

This sounds great! If you can get a better interest rate, why not grab some miles in the process. Can you pay the monthly payment with a credit card through SoFi or do you just get the bonus miles when refinancing?
