Either one…RIDICULOUS!

Art and credit cards mix like water and oil.

💳 to ALL the OG vanilla platinum card holders (where the Card actually says the word "PLATINUM" on the card) i doubt any of them will get these cards. once they switch back they can never get that original classic "PLATINUM" card back. 💳

Bruh this credit card design is trash, apart from their new model of being a coupon card now, this will certainly make me want to look at the WF new credit card line for 2022.

It’s simple, she’s black and amex has gone woke. She could literally take a dump and paint it, they’d call it genius, bc of the color of her skin and ignore white artists.

I can’t wait to get my hands on one of those designs. After I finish my welcome bonus on my Gold card first. Julie’s artwork on the platinum catches my eye.

Ruined? Perhaps not. But certainly out of touch with their cardholders. We want a travel card. Not an art, lifestyle, etc. card.

The photos posted on reddit of the supposed designs looked a lot nicer than the announced ones. Out of these two new designs, I think Wileys looks better although its still not something I'd prefer. Mehretus looks like some kids party confetti. Idk who Amex is targetting now. Walmart credit and now kiddie designs on the cards on top of raising the annual fee…I'm all for inclusivity but this ain't it.

It kind of looks like they threw the card into a box of crayons, shook it around a bit, and that's what came out. The Centurion with the plant design looked pretty cool though.

The best design AMEX could’ve done is to put the word PLATINUM back on the front.

I am just getting into the credit card world and intrigued on how it all works. Such as the perks and cash back programs. In what order should I start in my searches to best get me more familiar with the best techniques to maximize my knowledge on how to work the system??? I am completely new to this world but I am very intrigued into being very knowledgeable about credit cards.. I just need to know were to start and which direction I should go into so I can be that person that knows all about credit cards and use every bit of them to maximize the benefits from using them..

I know your lane is credit cards so you had to make a comment about the art on the card, but you could have been a bit more informed about the artists. Like you said, you don’t know and not informed about art so stop right there! Amex not only chose two prominent Black artist, but two of the greatest contemporary artist of our time. Thanks for making a mockery of their work and the significance of the partnership. Yes, I know you tried to save face in the end by throwing some props, but not at all genuine. Looking forward to your regularly scheduled vlog about what’s in your wallet.

The plant card is nice, maybe for a different less classic card…. The other I don’t get at all.

I feel like any art is completely subjective. A good example is music, just because some can’t understand why the moonlight sonata is a masterpiece doesn’t mean that it’s actually bad. Same with hip hop, some legitimately cannot enjoy it and that’s just their opinion. You’re not an idiot for not liking the second card design, it just doesn’t appeal to you and that’s not bad for anyone

Modern art is money laundering. Biden's is the perfect example.

I don't dislike the plant art version of the Centurion (not that it's within my reach at all) – I quite like the green on black aesthetic, kind of like the wall displays in the Centurion lounges. But really disliking the art on the Platinum. Perhaps they should have explored having the art on the Rose Gold or the Green? I wouldn't mind plants on my Amex Green.

Relax, Shifu…it's not you. The "art" in question really is as bad as it seems, and there's nothing to "get." For a great explanation, read Tom Wolfe's short book The Painted Word.

Whether you know anything or not or understand anything of art or not, both of these cards look bad to me. Where is the prestige? An Amex Platinum should be clean and stately. I’m not even a fan of the design of the Amex Platinum now sans the artwork; I preferred the designer prior to 2020 with the more ornate font and the card actually said Platinum. But these? No thanks.

Carlos Peralta December 5, 2021 - 6:28 pm

Amex should have just partnered with Dbrand. They’re Apple Card skins are nice and look better than these odd designs (and can be removed/replaced when one gets bored of it). With that said, I somewhat like the idea; but at the same time it doesn’t seem to be a limited edition run, so that makes it less special.

I would of not of added color for the flower one. Overall it’s about the benefits because a card for the most part stays in your wallet or digital wallet. This will just cost Amex money meaning less value out of the card. I might pick up both just so I know which platinum is which since some of us have more than one platinum. That be the only reason
