Cap One Secured is trash. However, it helped me build my credit. I moved on to Discover and Chase since then.

Credit cards are dumb I’m at 798 and don’t have any of the high tears. There’s no point just get a credit increase and you good. Why pay 250$ or more yearly when you credit the only thing that matters lol

Surprisingly, the average Credit Score in the U.S. has increased since the start of the pandemic. One thing that hurt me during 2020, though, was having a store credit card's credit limit reduced from $2,200 to $200 without being notified of that by the issuer. I didn't use the card much and the balance was zero, but guess they just decided it was too risky to allow me to carry such a high limit. I just dropped the card. $200 made it not worth keeping even for future use.

I want to get a second card…how do I get rid of my first card? Or, should I keep my first card (CapOnePlatinum) and use it rarely just to keep it active?

What is the benefit of cutting a card?

I’m currently down bad, my 2 credit one cards are sent to collections , so is my PayPal credit. My 2 capital one cards are owed as well I haven’t made a payment in a couple months. Experian fico score is 492. Went from 700 to 492. Can I still build my credit with a secured card while I still owe ?

The more I look at the whole credit card and fico score system the more it becomes apparent what a scam it is . For instance they don’t create rewards cards out of the goodness of their hearts . They do it because the perceived reward you get for spending money makes you feel good which will encourage you to spend more than you have which helps their retail customers make more money. Seriously 1 to 3 percent rewards is just laughable . Then the whole fico thing you can go from zero to prime credit in less than a year . That does not mean your good with money or that you are ready to pay for a house it just means you played the credit game to boost your fico score . The number that really matters is your net wealth . Having an 800 score at the price of a lot of debt is not worth it .

What tier would you recommend with a higher than 700 credit score for everyday spending but doesn’t fly often but does more driving?

I've had a secured credit card for last 5 years, since I turned 18. I don't earn a lot of money and I also don't spend a lot of money, so don't think I'll be upgrading anytime soon, even tho I've maintained my credit score very well.

I feel that Tier 2 is kind of the sweet spot if you don’t travel even for high income earners because if you have a large income and a good credit score you could get tens of thousands in credit limit with all that cash back
