Hey Credit Warriors, well it is Valentines day this weekend, it is also president’s day on monday and this all means one thing. Celebrating your love for your significant other, plus celebrating the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln and George Washington, actually, yes that, but, shopping!

And apparently this presidents day weekend the sales will be so good that its even better than black friday cyber monday etc… So if you are looking for a new TV or some clothes or these baby yoda pajamas, this weekend is going to be epic for online shopping. And one of the things we always recommend when people are thinking of doing some online shopping is to use shopping portals to earn extra cash back or points on top of what they would earn with their credit card.

So for example if you use the shop with Chase portal to earn extra UR points, you can click on the presidents’ day tab and it takes you to a load of online stores where you can earn extra points just by clicking through from Chase. These include overstock dot com, sephora, under armour, even Sears which I thought was on its last legs is coughing up an extra half bonus point for a total of one per dollar for president’s day.

But the website I like best for these kinds of shopping events is Rakuten. Not rakooten, rakuten.

I went all the way to japan to find out how to pronounce it, but that is another story. Anyway Rakuten often offers some of the best deals and you can earn either cash back or Amex MR points, yes you heard that right. I have another video on how to set up your account to earn Amex points, but basically every penny of cash back you earn would be equal to one MR point, which potentially gives you way more value.

So what are they doing for Presidents Day weekend? Well there are a load of stores that are offering triple cash back. With rates as high as 15% or if you opt to earn Amex points 15 MR points per dollar. But it is up to, so you can see here…

Samsung is up to 10% back. When it says up to, it means different departments have different rates. So if you click into Samsung, you can see you can get 10% cash back for a mobile phone from them, pretty sweet deal, but just 2% back for TV, but you may still be able to order a Samsung TV from another retailer and get a higher rate of cash back.

Then we have overstock dot com at a straight 12% sitewide. Forever 21 is at 15%. American Eagle, one of my favorite clothes stores is at 6%.

But then on monday there are going to be a load of stores that will be doing a flat 10%, including: Saks fifth avenue, so that woul be a great time for those with the Amex Platinum to use the $50 saks credit that you get every 6 months. I certainly will be using it on my CHarles Schwab Platinum, just don’t forget to activate it on Amex’s website first.

Then you’ll also have Bloomingdales at 10% on monday. And it is tax season, so H&R Block and Turbo tax will both also be offering 10% cash back on monday.

So it is an awesome way to earn some extra points and cashback. If you are new to Rakuten you can use my link below to get $20 just for signing up, all you have to do is create an account and spend $20 at any store on their site.

As for myself, yeah maybe I’ll spend my $50 credit on this piece of glass that says Relax, I don’t know, give me your thoughts below. Please subscribe if you are new and we will see you next time. Bye bye

Do you think using Rakuten will negate the $10 back on TurboTax for using your AmEx Platinum card?

I like that you're getting on board with the "looking shocked in the thumbnail" trend that's all the rage in youtube clickbait these days.
