Hyatt points are the best hotel points on the market. But, they are making program changes in 2020 and this is going to be a devaluation to Hyatt. It’s not all bad news especially for flexible travelers, but Hyatt adding peak and off peak pricing could lead to other Hyatt devaluations in the future

This is bullshit. All these companies make changes in favor of the company…not the people. This change makes The Hyatt more money. They just dress it up like it's a good thing for the consumer. It's currently setup already that's good for the consumer. Why change it? The Hyatt will now make more money while fucking the consumer.

With SPG gone, this doesn't surprise me. They have room for more cuts and still be competitive.

Honestly with Marriott, in can be a net gain off season, in areas that don't have much of a tourist season (cheaper points anyways). I just booked Townplace Suites at 1.2 cents per point, not including the savings on taxes.

To be honest so far I haven't found Hyatt (or any other chain) to be the best deal for the type of travel that I do. I don't go to fancy resorts or care about things like status and all the little perks that come with them. What I want is the lowest out of pocket cost for a decent hotel in the area I'm traveling to. I've found that almost always I'm better off finding a well reviewed hotel on Trip Advisor and booking it via UR portal (1.5 cpp). For example going to NYC this month, I believe all the Hyatt hotels were in the range of 20k-25k points/night. That's equivalent of about $300/night at 1.5 cpp. I ended up booking something using UR for well under $200/night, in points equivalent. While I understand the "most value for your $" concept, I just don't travel that way. Just because a Ferrari is on sale 30% off, doesn't mean I'm going to buy it. If that makes sense.

I hope the devaluations stop or at least don't get worse because I still want the World of Hyatt card. And even though UR is devalued even more after this, they still have a 1.5 cent/point redemption if you have the Reserve. This is sad to see and I hope is doesn't get worse.

It's not bad at all. Hyatt is still an incredible value…

Credit card rewards are becoming worse for the consumer, slowly but surely. I can see myself being only a Discover or Dave Ramsey guy in the future. Waller I only got this for certificate to Sedona AZ Hyatt. Am I still good?

I'm still team hyatt when redeeming points for hotels, especially for transferring UR points

I’m still planning on getting their card next summer when I’m under 5/24 unless they devalue their program further.
