I wonder how Chase will treat something like PayPal Key.
So would they consider using paypal as a cash advance?
The new cash advance rule kinda stinks. Guess I can't meet Chase min. spends with rent and tuition payments now
Hey Sebby. Do we know for sure yet if this is going to kill making payments with Plastiq, or are we still waiting on more data points?
Webull did the same thing as RobinHood. They use the same clearing firm, APEX. So if you wanna real brokerage, go with one that has its own clearing firm. Like Fidelity and Vanguard.
Webull stopped trading just like RobinHood did.
CSP offer seemed ok, but ended up applying for Citi Premier due to being over 5/24. Got approved, 2.9k limit which isn't what I was expecting at all.
Thanks for the info! I pay rent with Clickpay and now I'm wondering if this will be counted as a bill payment transaction. Clickpay could maybe be the "service provider" per this language but it really isn't clear. Hope they provide more details….
Hmm interesting 🤔 thanks for the update!
just got approved for the old offer through your link. I've been wanting this card for a while but had to wait till I got the sub from my chase business card. that old offer is too good to miss compared to the new one.
Sounds like Chase isn't a fan of paypal key. Really gonna suck when the Freedom has it's next paypal quarter
Sebby- I have the first generation Hyatt CC (the grey ish color one that doesn't say world of Hyatt; only hyatt) and got the notification through email for that extra 5k point bonus. Would you think it will work with that old cc?
Argh. Just when I finished getting $200 cash back. Then again even Amex Blue has a cash back offer.
The link you posted for the old Hyatt deal takes me to chase sapphire preferred
I'm going to be irate if Chase starts charging me for paying my rent.
I don't like that Chase, will be counting P2P transactions/3rd party Merchants as Cash Advance.
If chase charges taxes as cash advance it is of little use
Please give everybody an update when Chase sorts out the cash advance rules. I am planning to use Pay1040 or PayUSAtax for each quarter this year. I'll be able to do Q1 & Q2, but beyond that it's going to put a monkey wrench in my well laid plans for 2021.
Wait so my main takeaway is that Amex is no longer offering the 100k sign up bonuses?!?
There was another youtuber who I follow that switched from Robinhood to Webull and I just received word Saturday that Webull did the same thing that Robinhood did. I am boycotting both those brokerage apps. Of course, I am a long time Etrade member, but there are many others that could use people's business like Vanguard.
I'll pass on that Chase offer. There has to be something better in the works.
Seb, thanks for the heads-up on the Hyatt card. Thought I was going to have to wait until it dropped back to normal. Applied and approved.
Will PayPal payments be affected by these new rules?
Plastiq transactions have probably saved thousands from being homeless during this pandemic. I really hope they reconsider such a thing.
Cash advance treatment for taxes, rent, 3rd party and friends and family is definitely a deterrent for me. BOFA already does this, luckily PayPal warned me about BOFA.
Not gonna lie. I'm a little happy to see this channel isn't apart of the gamestock circlejerk.
I’m still waiting on the CSR updates… I feel like the card is barely worth it given the new Freedom lineup.
Was looking to get an ink card and pay some rent and government spending, guess I gotta hurry
I didn't think cash advances were good so I have never looked to using that. I used to pay rent with my cc but then they changed the platform used and applied a fee for using a cc:(.
I been traveling a lot from JetBlue but I’m not sure if I should get their card or get another traveling card currently I have the Chase Freedom & Discover it been with them for 3 years already looking for a 3rd credit card 780 credit score which one should I go for?? For traveling I don’t really stay at a specific hotel chain tho just been traveling JetBlue 3-4 times a year help me out !!
Just got two emails for my Chase cards on new terms, increased fees/interest penalties if you don’t pay your card, increased monthly minimum payment, lots of what they consider cash advance type transactions. They seem to be anticipating many people defaulting on their accounts.
They don’t want you paying your mortgage every month with Plastiq 😅 They are tired of people earning points for making those types of payments and this is their way of nixing that.
Side note, I joined Robinhood the day before the nonsense.
Wait wait wait… you’re saying that if I go to the store and buy 50 candy bars all on separate transactions, I get 5000 points?!
Does Hyatt hotel credit roll over ? Not used in 2020 and not using in 2021
That'd be a HUGE bummer if tax payments via Pay1040 is cash advances. I had planned to have my girlfriend get the Hyatt card and pay my quarterly taxes to hit the 2 tronches, while I'm waiting to get under 5/24 to get the IHG cards in January. Paying quarterly taxes is a big way to hit SUB, and if they get rid of it, I might consider moving on.
And if gift cards are also cash advances, then I can't use my Ink Cash to buy Amazon gift cards at office supplies stores. Shame!
How do you get that 1$ for Hylatt card sebby bro? I don't see it on my chase account
By the looks of it, Hyatt card isn't gonna get a bonus boost anytime soon… Oh well just applied through your referral link and just confirmed approved! 😀
Sebi, is there an expiration on the referral for those 50k points? Will it change to that 60k offer at some point?
Can you do a segment on investing ?
Welp, the old bonus structure redirects to the new 60k offer now.
Aw man! I think I just missed this by a week. I applied a week before this was released but just got the card this week. Any chance they'll give me the $50 grocery credit??
Looks like even the hyatt referral link is showing the 30/30 bonus now or am I missing something? Wanted to apply if it was the old one..
Sebastian,
Great stuff yeah chase is probably going to crackdown on those Plastiq payments . That is going to make it hard for people trying to meet those min spend for the bonuses.
i just noticed that chase reduced my cash advance limit by around 85 percent but i never used it anyway LOL
How much must be spent on groceries to earn that $50 statement credit?
I use cards for my property taxes which amount to $27,000 due in June. I plan on using the Chase Ink Preferred for the sign up bonus points.
