In this video we ask the question, is the Amex Platinum still worth it in 2022?

I like walmart pickup for groceries. Our local chains are super expensive and amazon is too unreliable on their price consistencies.
Amex platinum card don’t leave home without the most illogical card ever
you keep saying that you got 200 dollars off just one night but the requirement is two nights? can you please explain
Ben- are you comfortable sharing the dollar amount you spend on your AMEX Platinum (or other AMEX accounts) over the course of a month or year?
Reason I ask is many other YouTubers in this space show off the benefits (free fights and hotels) but never share the dollar amount they had to spend to get there. It can be misleading making you think if you're just a casual consumer that you'll be get the same outcome.
We fly a lot every year and it's worth it for us for the lounge access alone. We have a Centurion Lounge at our home airport but it's also nice that we can use the Delta Sky Clubs if flying Delta. Priority Pass benefit is ok… The network sucks here in the states but we get our money's worth out of it when traveling through Europe.
The Platinum card at this point Is just a flex card
I used the $200 flight incidental credit for United Travel Bank
My annual fee just hit and I got a $150 retention offer, which was nice because I also got a 20K MR retention offer last year. That was enough to move the needle for me to keep it.
Hi can you do the Benefit for UK card please 🙏🏼😁
I love the Gold card but I feel like Chase trifecta is just better than Amex now, unfortunately.
You talked about the Saks socks on earlier videos and drove their sales up. Supply and demand, 😂. The sock company should sponsor some of your videos!
The Centurion lLounge at LAS is very nice, imo. Enjoy it!
I love the Centurion Lounges. When they start charging for guests, that may be when I seriously consider dropping the card. For me, that devalues the card quite a bit.
The other benefit is the offers. Although not very many of them are things I use, but this year I have been able to get $150 back on things that I was going to purchase anyway.
Ouch those annual fees sure come in bunches 😂
I cancelled my plat in December. New credits are garbage.
For me u can easily get face wash and make up from saks that’s literally the same price everywhere else. So ez $100
No
Gesh I was so confused seeing a different name for your channel it's been awhile since I have seen one of your videos.
It wont be worth it next year when we have to pay for guests
I was thinking of applying for this card but after going through it I wouldn't get much value out of it plus I don't spend 75k on credit cards a year. You should do a video on the gold card and see if its worth keeping or getting!
Nothing wrong with Walmart haha, i order groceries from them every couple of weeks for delivery and the quality is good enough for me
Fantastic video. I’ve been wondering how to reoptimize my Amex platinum since I’m not traveling since covid started
i have 3 platinum and they a work for me.
Instead of all of those crazy figures they should have given us better rewards. May need to call the retention line to see if they can convince me to keep it.
Walmart benefit is probably to cater to Shaq
Where did you get the chin up board from?
Have been looking for one, a long time.
Although I get free luggage check on American Airlines too, I get the airline credit when I purchase my seats. I typically book the flight and then buy the seat (doesn't matter which class) which triggers the credit. Glad you hit on the soft benefits too. I really like the car rental statuses. With Hertz (as an example) – due to the Platinum, I'm in the President's Circle. Makes it so much easier to get in / out of the rental garage not to mention upgrades, bonus points, etc. Prior to the benefit, was not uncommon I could spend an hour and a half in a rental line just to get the keys.
I think this is a silly way to value the credits. For example, would I pay $180 for CLEAR? Hell no. Would I pay $40? Yeah, and I get two people with the Delta deal. So, that’s how I value those benefits (so $80ish for CLEAR)
Makes much more sense to value it as what you would otherwise pay for it than to just say it’s either logical, 100% or illogical 100%
I may take a retention offer, but I prefer the combo: Delta Reserve + Hilton Aspire. I am only interested in the Conrad and Waldorf in Las Vegas for the $100 credit anyways, which I get with the Hilton Card.
台灣的觀眾朋友missing you.
希望你一切都好👍
Good video. Thanks!
I get great usage out of the card but that $695 is gonna hurt when I gotta pay it at the end of the year
Would you recommend to get the Charles Schwab Amex (I have a CS checking account and I do invest with them? I currently have the regular platinum, but been thinking about getting the Charles Schwab platinum and cancelling the regular platinum, do you recommend it??
Did you try retention offer for this year?
This card is bumped out of my wallet… the Uber credit is the only thing that I use and that doesn't get me close to the $695. The Chase Sapphire is my current big hitter.
Mine hit las month called got retention offer for 55k points for 4k in spend i will transfer points from my schwab platinum to brokerage account there there paying me $50 bucks to keep it at 1.1 cent
Im downgrading it .. not traveling as I was before …
The US card offers so much more value than the Canadian one..
It's worth it if you are okay with the AF, travel a lot and will be using the credits.
Ben, can you clarify how to book the room with AMEX FHR versus the Hotel Collection so we can take advantage of the $200 credit for one night versus 2 with the hotel collection?

You know… I thought that 75K spending requirement for free guest lounge was actually the: "you must spend $75k to access the lounge as a card holder" I was about to say like "Oh hell no!" ahahaha
Hi Ben,
Does Amex count global spend across all their cards towards the 75k? I spend 250k a year on my two delta reserve cards to get Diamond status.
That’s dumb using it at the bellagio. You can stay there free without paying if you’re gambling
Great video!
Question – I have the AE Platinum card. It’s worth it to me because I travel a lot and love the lounge access and other benefits. I’m big on airport lounges. Looking to get one more credit card with free lounge access. I’m over the 5/24 with Chase. You recommend the Citi/AAdvantage Executive World Elite MasterCard for the Admirals club or Delta Skymiles Reserve for the Delta SkyClub access? I’m all about the lounges and rewards/mile points.
