Nice disinformation! The IRS is also buying up ammunition like crazy for their new 87,000 strong army. The IRS will have a larger armed force than Canada. The CIC of the IRS army even LOOKS like a psychopath. Nope. Defund the IRS. Eliminate the IRS army. The whole thing is unconstitutional.

"3,100 – 4,200 of staff" there no way that wasn't on purpose

Let me tell you the weirdest thing about the IRS hiring.

The other day, I needed my tax EIN, which I only had one copy of, but couldn't find it. (However, in the end, I found it, and made a backup.) But at that moment, I googled for how to find your EIN.

The IRS website said you must call them between 7AM and 7PM "local time" (according to Reddit, they use your phone's area code to determine whether or not to accept your call during certain hours?)

So I think, okay, cool, for security purposes, I must speak to a human and verify in order to get my EIN. So I call the number during the correct hours and go through the long menu tree, while waiting through an unskippable message about economic injury loans and so on. I get transfered by the system to the correct queue only to be greeted by the strangest message. It says due to high call volume they cannot take my call and to try again ANOTHER DAY. No option for a call back or to wait on hold. And it hangs up on you.

I tried several times, with the same result. Searched this on Reddit, and everyone has this problem. Many said they call in right at 7AM local time to get this same message saying to call back on another day, followed by getting hung up on. It turns out, since calling (based on your phone's area code) allows the east coast to call first, the entire day's call quota is full before central time is even allowed to call (for calling too early, they would be disconnected with a message saying to call back after 7AM local time, which is too late). A redditor overseas said he couldn't be allowed to call at all. Others had to acquire a new phone number with an area code on the east coast, just to have a shot of getting through at 7AM eastern time… and even these people said it took 2 to 3 MONTHS of trying daily, before they got into the queue.

I'm lucky I found my document and didn't need to call anymore, because calling is the ONLY way. Turns out, in order to do things at a local IRS office, you must set up an appointment by phone… which… you guessed it, is the same phone system that hangs up on you and tells you to call back another day.

So, why doesn't Joe Biden hire phone agents for the IRS instead?

Good the IRS gets a bad rap. They need more manpower.

Thing 1: audits do not mean you have done anything wrong. They are a normal part of tax enforcement.

Thing 2: if you ensure your taxes are paid correctly (or for some of us, paid, period) then what are you worried about

Thing 3: the more complex your return and the more deductions you claim, the higher your chance of being audited. If you own a business or investment property, you are inherently more likely to get audited than someone who only has W-2 or 1099 income. I am sick of hearing dudes making $32k working at the Home Depot freaking out about audits.

They lowered the threshold for reportable transactions from 10k to 600 and will use that new policy to audit you. This is dangerous. IRS needs to be abolished. Our entire system of waste and corruption is built on our fear of being audited and forced to give up our labor to the government. They rely on this to keep the money train going.
