Now if you can use a gas-advantaged card at Costco you've struck gold!

I do basically the same thing when I decide to fill at Costco and my Venture card 2% or 2x venture miles vs Exxon Mobile 1.5% back with Exxon program, 10% back with my BB+ Amex offers and 2x MRPs. Totaling 14-15% back in value. My best option changes often.

Thanks for this helpful and informative video! I always debated what the best way was to pay for my gas purchases since its over $3 per gallon here. Plus the gas station I pump at charges an extra 10 cents per gallon when using debit/credit. But i do get about 15 cents off per gallon every week thanks to T mobile tuesdays.

Good topic! Some supermarkets have discounts programs that you can use to get a few cents off too.

Great video! I've been doing this for 2 years now with gas. We have a Sam's Club in our area and mostly use the membership for gas and a few household essentials. The savings on household essentials take care of the membership fee and we save around $0.20/gallon compared to the next cheapest place in town. 9% + 2X from BBP or CIC gets us 12%+ off on gas. I wish Sam's would do in-store offers again on Dosh, because that was another 5% on top of all that!

As I mentioned in the group, the concern is giving away those sacred numbers, i.e. Debit/Checking account numbers. It's hard enough dealing with the bank when your credit card is compromised…I certainly don't want to go through that drama when it's my own money on the line. Amex and Chase can weather the storm while I don't want to have to hope and pray that Bank of America gets my money back.

I just pay with my Freedom when it’s a category or my Citi Premire. Currently on my Bonvoy Brilliant. Keep it simple with my Credit cards.

My usual combo is Shell fuel rewards (5 cents) and the Ducks Unlimited (5%).

I have a BP card through Synchrony Bank that gives you 10 cents off, plus another 5 cents off when you pay through their app. So, 15 cents per gallon at $2 gas = 7.5%, with a free card (that’s a VISA) and a free app! At BP only of course…

My local grocery stores offer cents off gas with certain items in the store you buy or by total amount you purchase. But, stacking this would be stellar. Take care Dustin and stay safe!

I have a Kwik Trip/Kwik Star debit card (see my channel if you want to know why!) — it gives a flat 3 cents per gallon discount. Gas would have to be under $1 per gallon for me to think about that (which it VERY briefly was at the high-point of covid!) It does give big discounts and coupons occasionally, though!

Thank you for this video, been saying this for a long time. Nobody is touching the Citi Shell Mastercard's 10c off per gallon stacked with Tmobile Tuesdays 10c/gallon for a total of 20c off per gallon. Of course that is highly situational. 2nd place for me goes to BJs, which already has cheaper gas on average than most (eg I found $1.42/gallon during the pandemic in SC while roadtripping or 0.10/1.42= 7% back), and their 10c off per gallon Elite Mastercard. 3rd place would be Abound Platinum Visa and their 5% off which I would apply for if gas ever goes over 4 bucks and/or Shell stops giving the Tmobile 10c off every week. Honorable mention would be Costco 4% gas (though I've heard you can only redeem rewards once a year!??) and PNC 4% that you mention ($25 increment rewards = meh).

Another aspect of the situation to keep in mind is how a particular gas station codes. For example, Kroger for me codes as gas with Chase but not with Amex.

We just returned from a trip to Las Vegas where gas was $2.40. I miss it! Gas is about $3.04/gal in my area of California.
