Question, does tap and pay create a different number each time like the chip does?
I remember having to look up a card in a book to see if it had been stolen, then taking the card imprint. Aah yes the days when a credit card transaction took much longer than cash, but people used it anyway.
I hope adblock stays around forever
I feel like swiping is faster and I don’t like being told to wait to remove my card.
Still used in bonus cards, will be interesting to see how they’ll solve that, probably link it to a CC card which some already support.

Good. The stupid chip should go too. Everything should be NFC.
This was truly a dope azz educational video! Thanks 🙏
I would agree with this decision but the other day my MasterCard’s chip malfunctioned and I had to swipe my card to get the purchase through. It’s useful to have a backup
Mastercard can start putting contactless payment first with the Chase Freedom Flex😉😁
Hello ma'am i can recommend you to a credit analyst who may be of help to you?he remove all negative items on your credit report and also boost your score 24 hrs i will be hoping to hear from you….
Before you know we won’t have fancy credit cards at all! Ughhhh what a shame
As someone who lives in the UK this is so strange to see, I’m in my mid 20s and I’ve never in my life used a swipe transaction. Since chip and pin as we call it has been used in the UK since 2003 and in recent years contactless has by far become predominant.
swipe transactions to me have always seemed outdated and forgotten, so this has really opened my eyes that the US still uses them heavily.

Great!!! And all the inherent problems with the chip when it wears. Insert three times, then you can swipe
my chip gets an error 3 times in a row then the machine tells me to swipe the card at my grocery store. this is gonna suck
Thanks for this history! Very interesting!
I am from Brazil, I cannot remember the last time I used the strip here. Certainly the last time I used it was one I was traveling abroad somewhere in Central Europe.
Good move to further protect us from skimming and fraud. Many prepaid cards still lack a chip. Some merchants, like certain hotels, no longer accept cards without a chip. It’s rare I have to swipe anymore. Currently only my Target credit card is without a strip.
I am surprised to see that swiping is still so widely used in the U.S. In Canada, debit has always required a PIN. Chip and PIN credit cards began rolling out in the late 2000's. By the early 2010's, pretty much every POS system was retrofitted to handle chip and PIN transactions. By the mid-2010's, most POS systems were again retrofitted to handle contactless payments.
That’s all right, I canceled my master card. When I found out that they are doing some new card in German that keeps track of your emissions and can CUT YOU OFF FROM SPENDING YOUR MONEY ON WHAT YOU WANT?
BYE BYE MASTER CARD!
