Service at Golden Steer was the worst part when I was there two weeks ago. The waiter kept pushing the limo to the strip club scam on us claiming he knew the owners or some bs. He brought it up multiple times even though we all made it super clear we know Vegas well enough. Most of us have even been to Golden Steer itself a half dozen times or so. Really disappointed in that waiter and he sorta ruined the meal for me. Oh and there is a secret cheaper wine bottle menu there they don't tell you about. Well.. the good waiters do. The one I had two weeks ago didn't until I brought it up. Basically the wines sold by the glass are all available as a reasonably priced bottle but those aren't listed anywhere.

I was in Las Vegas during the Lennox Lewis v Klitschko fight about 20 years ago and no where in the city was showing the fight, since it was on PPV. I was then in the Vegas a few years back during a weekend that Pacquiao was fighting at T-Mobile, which was on PPV. The only two places in the whole city showing it was Sapphire strip club and Palace Station. I guess things haven’t changed much for PPV in Las Vegas. There’s a million sports bars in So Cal that show PPV boxing/UFC, for a cost of course.

What economic stuff is going on? Super low unemployment, inflation went DOWN last month, stock market is rebounding, gas under $4 nationally, and wages are up.

Your segment on The Golden Steer reminds me how much I need to go there. Nice review. 👍

Hey does anyone think a cabana at MGM on a weekday for just two people is worth it? Or are we better off with a daybed or something?

Living across the street from Fontainebleau, construction is crazy (and loud), got the palm tress up in various places, so they gotta be serious!

I just finished a weekend trip to Fontainebleau Miami Beach, was surprised to see that all the restaurants there included an 18% service charge on every bill? Seems to be at almost all the restaurants around South Beach?

Shawn- some friends were just there & one of their cab drivers said that Mandalay Bay was having a name change to Mirage. This in order to take away the bad vibes of Mandalay Bay. Any info or thoughts, or is this just another crazy rumor?? Good show as usual!!

I will gamble that Fountainebleau is a flop. Nice job, Mark, with the double Criss Angel reference! If something in Vegas is going to burn down, why not Circus, Circus?

I can’t stand all the high end stores! I ve been there 14 times and never saw anyone in any of those stores. I feel like unless you are a super high roller and winning in who has money to shop ?

Great show tonight. Do you think the removal of the letters on Ballys had anything to do with the recent announcement that the Ballys Corporation plans to close its purchase of the Tropicana in September? Just curious.
Speaking of the Tropicana, 90% of the reviews I've seen in recent months have been very negative and suggest that the current owners have refused to spend any money on maintenance or service and have let it decay into a dump. Longtime fans of The Trop will therefore be pleased to know that the new owners have expressly stated that they plan to do NOTHING to improve the Trop for at least a year.
"Allow our hotel to continue its decline and drive the last few of our loyal customers away for good" would not seem to me to be the best business plan unless your long-term goal is to squeeze a few more dollars out of some tour groups or hapless Hilton Honors customers before you bulldoze it.

All I'll remember about Bally's is that I think they filmed "Honeymoon in Vegas" in it. Hard to forget about "The Flying Elvis' Utah chapter" lol!

Stop giving Vital Vegas screen time…………….they ( he ) is a joke and decent amount of his breaking news is stuff he makes up…………..if sports books didn't make $$ there wouldn't be books. I'm guessing with sports betting being legal in many states that people who would have once been nervous making sports bets ( not knowing exactly how now bet sports while in Vegas via an app or window.

The renderings for Fontainebleau look very beautiful, I like the color palette of whites, creams with the touches of gold and navy blue.

Golden Steer is great for its ambiance which is included in the price. The same service you can get at other steakhouses in Las Vegas like Oscar’s.

Funny comments about the Chriss Angel pop up pyrotechnics shows. I have stayed at bally's. Nice rooms that were remodeled a few years ago and the casino is quiet and subdued.

From what I've read, those high-end retailers don't really worry about a storefront being "profitable". It's more about maintaining their brand's visual presence in luxury venues. Sure, they make the occasional sale, but it's really more like an advertising expense for them. Like when you see a full-page ad for YSL or Hermès in a travel magazine, and at the bottom of the page, they list that they have retail locations in New York, London, Paris, Tokyo, and …. Las Vegas.
