Episode Description
This week more big news came out of the struggling #MSG Sphere project. While it looks like the $2.2 billion theater will be finished in September, two top executives were fired this week marking trouble for the overbudget project. With so much of their plans being movie showings, will this become the most expensive movie theater in the world?
In other #news the NFL revealed the Super Bowl LVIII logo for next year’s big game in Las #Vegas. They also announced they will be seeking 10K volunteers to help with the event in 2024. We also discussed the Oscar Meyer Wienermobile getting robbed, another stunning strip side venue, Las Vegas as a “Dream City” and a new hotel/casino combo coming to Water Street.

The Criss Angel MSG Sphere it is!
I am very excited about the sphere. I love space and nature movies on a big screen. It almost feels like being there. 😃
This middle-class citizen is done with Vegas. Countless nickel and dime fees from billion dollar resorts,, absurd restaurant prices, horrible customer service, low comps, Bum's/lowlife strewn about on the sidewalk, weed smoke everywhere…etc
Watch out for Circus Circus 🎪 my catalytic converter was stolen from there 4 months ago.
1) dollar general should sponsor it!
2) if a movie will be $50, how much will an overblown concert cost? $500? $1000?
3) I hope U2 is getting paid in advance….and make sure the check clears!!!
I guess Chris angel is making catalytic converters disappear
Wouldn’t mind watching the Super Bowl next year at the MSG 🥳🥳
That sphere is prob gonna be some kinda metaverse venue
Looks like another major headline developed in the past 24 hours too: that the Oakland A's are considering the current site of the Rio as where a potential baseball stadium would be built.
As sad as it would be to see the Rio demolished, it wouldn't be surprising if this wound up happening because the Rio is on prime real estate and it would make perfect sense for a major venue like that.
Hey Shawn and Mark, do you remember Omnimax at Caesar's Palace? The sphere is not really that cutting edge from what I see. Just a larger more expensive version of Omnimax. Thoughts?
Background check for Vegas Super Bowl volunteers……that would eliminate the MTM boys.
This Sphere SCREAMS Dollar Loan Center!
Red Rocks Amphitheater, outside of Denver, shows films on nights they don't have concerts.
I want to see Mark screw up the sign-off again, this time saying 'have a good weekend' on the tuesday show.
Let me get this straight.. A multi billion dollar company wants free workers to Volunteer their time to do their biggest party???? Only a giant sucker would sign up for something like that😂😂😂😂😂
Why would anybody volunteer to provide services for free to millionaires and billionaires?
Screw volunteering for the NFL that's a multi billion dollar corporation they can afford to pay a few dollars
My prediction for the sphere is in 20 years Vegas will decide its time to move on. Some other Billionaire will build a 500 foot tall robotic Gallagher and smash it with a sledge-o-matic.
I’m in my 50s from SoCal and I always wanted to retire to Las Vegas, but it certainly isn’t the low cost no state tax heaven it was most of my life. The inventory of houses has almost doubled since ‘22 and prices are down 12%. So, maybe there will be some opportunities the next few years to buy a home at a reasonable price again in Las Vegas. The water next to those single family home communities looked nice.
What will be the crazier even in Vegas next year? Super Bowl? F1? International Pizza Expo?
LOL @ the NFL using volunteers to work the super bowl events. Such a douche move by a group that makes billions every year.
The Sphere seems like a cool novelty searching for a profitable use. What came to mind for me is a Disneyland type ride where you travel through space and maybe a few other themes where they overload your senses.
I am more supprised people want to live in Baltimore
If it’s the MSG Sphere, maybe they can convince Uncle Roger to sponsor it. Hi-yahhh!
The Rolling Stones should play the sphere if they tour in 2023.
FTX Sphere
Yeah those catalytic converters. I work for an insurance company so you can imagine the claims…smh
The PGA, LIV or Titleist golf balls – should sponsor the MSG Sphere.
I agree with mark I wish people would boycott signing up but I’m sure they will continue to get away with volunteering for employees. It really is wrong as much as they bring in and sad. Thanks for another enjoyable episode guys.
No interest in moving from Canada to Las Vegas, especially the current Disneyland with gambling, kids , dogs , fees , you name it. Also I gamble enough said, also take away the Strip and Downtown and what have you got?
40-80 shows sounds right. If they average one major headliner show every week (52) then they'll be ahead of most other concert venues in town. And the movies make sense… like you said about IMAX. Remember like 30 years ago, when there wasn't an IMAX theater in every city? They used to be tourist attractions, and they all showed that SAME Mount Everest documentary. Caesars Palace used to have the omnimax dome. That's what this will be like. I'm looking forward to being able to get inside there for a reasonable price. It will do well with tourists.
James Dolan needs to fire himself as owner of the Knicks and anything MSG related. Hopefully someone can come in and bail him out. Maybe he needs to ask Mark Davis on what he did to get a sponsor.
Why not use the Sphere as a setting for Steel Cage Matches? Only in this version, all the people who come in as customers, spectators, are told its you who are the fighters, like it or not. Great fun. And a way for Dolan to save money on hiring professional fighters. That scenario is not much stranger than the US Air Force on mission alert for hobbyists' balloons over Alaska and Norfolk Southern railroad almost getting away at first with nuking East Palestine, Ohio with exploding railroad tank cars.
Checked a popup ad for the Strat on another web site.
Strat rooms $29,$29,$29…then on March 15..$500!!!!!!!!
Winner, winner—–Chicken dinner
I’d volunteer if I could get in and see the game. That’s what they should do.
