The rumored new amex is supposedly called Optio, according to random people on the internet! Anyway we look at some of the suggested benefits of this Amex Optio card.

Might be $750 for Saks? I'd like to hear opnions on what it would be?
Read somewhere that Platinum holders with 20 years tenure with Amex, regardless of spending, could apply.
Optio sounds like some kind of Harry Potter spell. "Optio AMEX!!!" 🧙
Really enjoyed this video.
They should still call it the Amex Matte Black card
Well since you are the Credit Shifu, can you name the Amex card that is above the “Centurion”. Hint 1981 25 cards released and 37 accounts still active today.
Google and Wikipedia won’t help you
$1500 annual fee……I'll pass.
I will stick with my basic blue cash card. 0 annual fee.
Someone commented that exact thing on your last video, "Paulie Fox" : "A little bird told me it would be named Optio. Would be $1500/year. Would be by invite only to current Platinum holders, but easier to obtain than Centurion. Would have most of the Centurion benefits except concierge and Equinox and would be Delta Gold instead of Platinum."
Would be curious about benefits for authorized user. Some of my family members get Hilton and Marriott gold as authorized users on my Amex Plat card. If Delta gold were given to authorized users on Optio, that'd be great. But I doubt that would happen.
@ 3.00 I died what green card do you have
I'm guessing ~100k annual spend to get an invite. The Saks credit is bullshit, probably worth $200 for most males. There are airlines that make it much easier to get SkyTeam status than Delta. I would never pay $500 for it. If Delta Gold it worth that to you, you're probably already within reach of it. So this card is for someone who wants it for the exclusivity. Someone who will plunk it down at a bar over the Gold in their wallet and forgeo the 3x extra points just to flex. I'm sure that's worth $1500 easily to a lot of high spenders and Amex will make a killing with this card. It's definitely not for me though.
WOW, green card annual fee is now 1,500, WOW
Loved the roman army history lesson!
3:03 – and the green card also went to $1500………. SAY WHAT Credit Shifu? Slip of the tongue I'm sure because he's so excited if it's true to await his invite to the OPTIO card! 😍😁😜
I’m very happy with my Amex platinum card 😁
I have a question it’s not really related to the video but it’s about points and bonuses, could you use a card to pay off a different credit card, get the points and then send the money back to the original card and then cancel it?
I am very excited about this new card. The Platinum card will no doubt see an annual fee increase and the benefits will change. I hope that they limit Centurion Lounge access and make it more exclusive. I am tired of overcrowding and time restrictions. An annual fee increase on the Platinum card is what I have been wanting Amex to do for quite some time. This will eliminate more cardholders and hopefully they will tighten up their underwriting for new applicants although I do not really see them doing this… as it is still a charge card. One can hope!
Not much mention of points. If customers pay $1,500 for a card, it seems that an initial bonus of 100,000 or even 150,000 Membership Rewards points from American Express would be in order.
I’m interested but if it’s invite only I doubt I’ll get it. I love my platinum but I’m probably not a big enough spender.
Saks credit won’t do it at least for me, now travel 🧳 credit YES ! ( but not the stupid travel incidental fee which is becoming harder to use every year I am talking about a real travel credit like the Sapphire Reserve, ( $750.00) will be decent an $1000.00. Will be impossible to say no, Honestly Amex should give you freedom……for instance $1000.00 credit. Choose your category ( Uber-MTA). Or air tickets or the Saks if you really are into it. Thank you for this video
'Optio' makes sense but the name sounds a bit clinical and doesn't really command the same impact as Centurion or even Platinum. I think Praetorian would be better. Praetorians were the elite troops who guarded the emperor. Might not have as high a rank as Centurion but has a better name imho than Optio.
Wait? Amex Green is now $1500? :O
3:05 I think you meant the Amex green has been boosted to 150 not 1500
Gives us normal people something to shoot for. Really interesting card considering the meaty gray area it will be covering
I'm an outsider and can not afford these cards?
1500.00 AF .Then make credits you can only use , if you stand on your head underwater.
Just got my first credit card a month ago to start building credit. It was a secured card. How long should I wait before applying for an unsecured card? Can I apply for AMEX straight or should I apply for Chase or something?
I wonder if the points earnings will be as crappy as the Centurion? If guess if you have the Centurion, you dont care about points.
For $1500 a year it better blow me,twice.
AMEX Green card is $150 not $1500 lol
Now you'll have a 6 tier card system lol.
Confucius once said that there is a "fool born every three minutes"
It would be a MIRACLE. Centurian would be a MIRACLE too.
If it was auto Delta Platinum, I'd probably go for it, but not for gold
The question im asking myself if centurion card holders can order this card as an partner card
I spent over 300k on my platinum the past year and I don’t have an invite to anything. Never even get the dang amazon offers.
If Amex was truly smart, they would make you get this new card, before being eligible, for an invite to the Centenarian Card.
Shut up and take my money! Optio 2020!
Would be nice if they incorporated a restaurant reward perks with this card separating it from the Platinum in that way. I love my Platinum for travel ect yet I use my gold card for groceries and restaurants for the 4x points. If all points stayed the same with this card as the platinum however they added say 3x points at restaurants then maybe 4x points at CERTAIN AMEX partnered restaurants like higher end places I think it would be fantastic. Restaurants that were specifically partnered with AMEX to drive business there in return earning 4x points on dinning I think it would blow any other card out of the water. I'm not talking about Olive garden ect though, More like Mortan's Steak House or, say higher end dinning experiences would be perfect.
If they came out with a biz version it could have 4x on gas or certain office purchases whatever too. I think between all my Amex accounts I spend roughly 65-70k annually I would totally love this card.
$1000 for the privilege to swipe a card…no thank you
Any more information about this card?
Billy, do you like gladiator movies?
I thought centurion referred to the top one percentile.
With all do respect, I believe the original rumor is completely fake. Take a very close look at the document that is being displayed. Under Titanium they have Magstripe and Contact Chip completely spelled out, the others are abbreviated. Plus, why is it missing Duel interface when all the other cards are that way??? Looking at the black bold across the page looks as if someone was not able to remove it when they were cutting and pasting.
