My Thoughts: The Chase Sapphire Preferred is useless other than travel for protections which if you use it for the CSR is better. The CSR is only good for Travel and the perks (Similar to the Amex Platinum now in that regard). I think the CSR & CSP are going to have a refresh of some sort given this crossover of dinning perks for no annual fee.
The only bad thing you cant use it at Costco.
Chase may just increase multipliers on the freedom because its a flagship card
Me last month- do I want the Discover Chrome card or the Saver one after I get a Freedom card in September?
Chase- neither. You want neither.
This sucks, I literally opened my first Chase Freedom last month, and now… here's a better card. Though no brainer, I would want to convert to CF Flex, if possible, I would have to wait for 12 months 🙁
Thanks for the wonderful insight! I got accepted for the CF last Friday. What is your advice regarding this scenario? Should I keep the CF and apply for CFF later down the road for the double SUB? I'm still new to the credit card game (2/24) and I'm not sure if this is a optimal strategy to start my credit card game.
I love these changes but I’m so confused with what chase is trying to do….so now the CFF and CFU are solid….but the CSP and CSR aren’t as appealing since the “lower tier” cards have solid categories already
Is the cellphone protection confirmed? Just bc its a World Elite MC doesn't mean it automatically gets it, see citi double cash. It depends on the bank which WEMC benefits they want to pay for…
If I were a heavy road warrior with loyalty towards Hyatt, I would choose Freedom Unlimited + Ink Preferred, plus the Hyatt card as a trifecta.
CF credit card history will change with PC?
You are the best man! Do you think they will beef up their other 2 cards as well? And also about Discover it cash back, you think they will see themselves forced to retaliate on this and do the same?
I have both the freedom and freedom unlimited. Which one would you recommend to product change to maximize point earnings
Hahaha that reference to 'metal card flexing' in the intro 😂🤙 Great rundown man! You've got a great gift of packing tons of valuable info in a short timeframe, then unpacking in a super easy-to-follow way. THANK YOU 🥇
I hope Chase is not getting any funny ideas of not being able to pool points from CFU and CFF into their other cards. Right now this move forces you to have a CFU just for Costco is you don't have Altitude Reserve. Also, I see the Altitude Go as a paetial catalyst for this CFF change.
Hey Waller is Amex safe because I mean no annual fee in the gold card has 250 I just I hope that the reserve gives like 3x on supermarkets no cap or 2X it'll blow American Express out of the water
Wow! What a move against the CSP! It is silly how you pay $95 to get 2x, and someone getting this new card is paying nothing and enjoying 3x on same and more categories.
I will change my CSP to the CFF once the AF hits.
Stop saying Chase.
So you're saying that the regular freedom card won't have anything unique over this freedom flex card? Is the freedom flex rotating categories identical to the freedom categories? No annual fee? So there's really no reason to not product change the freedom 🤔
Hey does anyone know what should I do if I currently have the chase freedom & freedom unlimited, should I just apply separately for the flex when it comes out in September to get that welcome boy ya and then after just cancel my freedom ?
If csr would offer 4x in grocery that would put me in a pickle with the Amex Gold. And if csr would permanently add the 5x has…BOOM, it would be over for Amex green, gold and to certain people the platinum. How about you Dustin: 4x on groceries, 3x in dining, 5x on gas for the CSR, would this be you go to?
When you talked about Flex at the start, I thought you’d be referring to those guns. 🤣💪
I have 2 Chase Freedoms (one of them used to be a CSR).
Could I apply for the Flex and still receive its bonus? If not, I can just product change to the Flex.
I plan to apply for the Freedom Unlimited for its bonus and 0% APR for a major purchase. For this reason, I don’t want to PC to a CFU.
Why didn’t they just add the benefits to the freedom card? Is the move to MasterCard that significant?
I have a feeling that they’re going to revamp the CSR/CSP, they have to at least give 4x on travel or add a gas or grocery category. I love my CSR, so please chase do something
The new Flex card (as well as the Unlimited after the official update) actually gets 5% cb on groceries for the first year up to $12,000. It states it essentially at the bottom of the benefits list on their media page.
Gonna be on the product change gang soon #FreedomFlexin
Is the regular Chase Freedom card going to be phased out? I don't want the FLEX card if I have to make a new application for it, I'll just keep the regular card.
Are the rotating categories for the freedom, and freedom flex going to be the same?
I'm in just for the cellphone protection.
I wonder if they are going to get rid of the CSR or add better categories and move the categories to the CSP hmmm. They do need a grocery earning card or even one with grocery delivery included hmm. Chase is probably going to revamp the sapphire cards. I mean the BOA cash is a no annual fee world mastercard. Wells fargo propel is also good they are trying to compete in that market.
Can't believe how many times you said the word "flex" but you didn't flex those big arms at all!
Great. Now get rid of the 3% foreign transaction fee.
Always pick No Annual Fee
Hard to see any how the CSP makes any sense anymore, especially at $95.
Does the Flex Card have an International Charge Fee?
chase bored competting with amex and want to compete with themselves!
Seems a bit unfair for current Chase Freedom cardholders, especially those who got the card recently. Current Freedom Unlimited cardholders automatically get access to the new benefits, whereas Freedom cardholders must wait if they've had the card for less than a year and then deal with the hassle of product changing to a new card.
So if I book travel directly I still get 3x points but I don’t get the 1.5x or get to book with my points, so what’s the benefit? Just going to save points forever?
you should keep your affiliate links except for chase they made their own bed…. maybe don't highlight them as much… you need to make your money to keep the channel going and able to support yourself, we get it, you did the cool thing middle finger to Chase, yes! but don't get rid of everyone…
One possible reason to skip product changing from the Freedom to the Freedom Flex: I read somewhere that you cannot have more than one Freedom Flex card (whereas currently, you can have more than one Freedom card).
For me, the new category additions for the Freedom Flex are not useful, so it would be worth keeping the Freedom as is, so I could separately add a second Chase 5x Card (Freedom Flex) in the future (especially good for grocery quarters and PayPal quarters).
I have csr card 2 freedom and 1 freedom unlimited and 2 business ink unlimited. Thoughts of changing my freedom unlimited to freedom card tomorrow and then waiting to see what the deal is going to be with the new flex card. Wondering if the freedom and freedom flex will have different bonus categories. Only thinking of changing it because I can always change it going forward I can just never go back to the freedom.
With an annual fee of $0 and generous cash-back rewards, the Chase Freedom® is a good fit for rewards rookies and cash-back connoisseurs alike.
Flex as in flexible/flexibility or Flex as in boast/pump up muscle?
If i am looking to start my chase trifecta, what card should i go with? the flex or unlimited?
Im new to the credit card game. Is it Possible to transfer points from freedom cards to sapphire preffered get the 25% bonus and then transfer that to sapphire reserved for 50% more?
Hi Waller, I was approved for a Chase Freedom flex card but my credit line was only $900. I was so upset. I called them and they won't increase my available credit. I was told even though my credit score is over 700 that's all that they can offer me.
Just got approved for mine!
