This is a good move for chase.

Great video. I'm super pleased that Chase is leaving the CSR AF @ $450 for this year. i felt a little cheated then this only applied to people with the AF due early in the year. They did the right thing. Also appreciate that it looks like we should get our $300 travel credit in other ways. I've been fretting about having to buy airline tickets to "somewhere" before Sept 1.

I was about to cash out all my points before my annual fee hit, but glad I procrastinated because this seems to offset well.

I'm reaching my 12 month anniversary on my Preferred now and have Chase points to cash out. If I upgrade to the Reserve to take advantage of the 1.5c redemption, will anything happen to the bonus I previously earned? Do I lose it because I haven't held the card for 2 years?

This is pefect. I've been waiting for Chase to do someting about this like AMEX has. Now I've got something I can some how break even and use points towards since there are a bunch of home improvement purchases I need to make! In the end, money is money and since I can redeem 1.5x for home improvement, it's the same as redeeming for travel.

Hey Sebby!

At 4:19 can you please explain the 10% opportunity cost for the $300 travel credit? I don't quite understand why there's an opp. cost.

Thanks!

How do you choose Eligible purchases ?

I am really torn. I’ve got around 160k UR points which I view as a travel fund, but these rates are really good and cash is so flexible which is great since I do mostly family travel and not aspirational stuff. Still, once you cash out the points, you can’t take advantage of deals that come along in the reward space. Fomo if you do and fomo if you don’t.

So if I bought a fridge at Home Depot last month, I could use points for some or all the costs in June???

Is chase waiving annual fees on the United cards?

Thanks a lot for this one Sebb. I'm holding onto me points for future travel but I might stock up on Grocery gift cards and save $75 down the road. Not sure on the travel credit yet though.

What should people new to credit cards be looking out for in 2020 if they have a "fair" score. I want to get a card on my credit report to mix things up with more account types and get stronger payment history and things like that, but there is conflicting information everywhere. I am responsible with money (which is why I never needed or wanted a credit card) but I just dont know which approach is best when looking to get a card for the purposes of building credit.

Not sure if anyone knows or will actually use it, but points also have a 10% boost when purchasing Apple products via the reward portal

I have a CSP and I’m trying to decide if I should down grade it to a chase freedom. My annual fee I believe will be coming up in the end of August/September. Any thoughts? I’ve been accruing points for flight for a trip eventually.

Sweet. I still have my Travel credit since I was finishing up with school and my travel plans for Tokyo Olympics is down the toilet. Now I don't have to worry about the credit expiring.

It’s a good thing that they’re doing this because I’ve been seriously thinking about canceling my Chase Sapphire Preferred card just to avoid the annual fee because it’s not worth it if I can’t enjoy the benefits for traveling during this pandemic. This gives me something else to consider.

I watched this video a few days ago, so forgive me if it's already been said, but I noticed that Chase also allows me to get cashback for my monthly watching Membership. If you go to the dropdown under earn and use you now have a "new option" to pay yourself back. They list all eligible items there.

Do they take away points/miles if you close credit cards? We applied for the inflight Barclays AA, and got the bonus points however obviously we haven’t been able to use them, my annual fee is coming up so I wanted to close before that but afraid they will take my miles away.

Hey guys, I have nearly 160k UR points and the Sapphire preferred. I was considering signing up for the freedom to create the “trifecta”, but am now considering upgrading to the Reserve (though I won’t get the sign-up bonus for that like I would with the freedom)…any thoughts on if that’s worth it? I don’t think I’d keep the reserve long term and likely downgrade before renewing, but I like the idea of redeeming those points for 1.5 instead of 1.25.

So is this a good time to get CSP if you're building up your Trifecta?

So if I plan on traveling at the end of this year and beginning of next year should I just go for CSR? I’m eating out more often right now and grocery shopping a lot too. Just don’t know about that AF lol

Maybe I missed it but would the reduced annual fee be $450 for new applicants or just renewals?

I for one love these new, albeit temporary perks since I have kids and they eat and eat and eat! So, since I have over half a million UR points, I figured i'd buy 3 K in groceries in May and June, lots of fillet mignon and ribeye steaks so I can freeze them….and in REALITY pay only $2850 in UR points since I am getting $75 back in points since I get to keep the 5X when shopping. So, do you think they will keep a perk or two being used right now for AFTER the Covid19 scare? I think Chase would be foolish not to since not everyone can use the DoorDash or Lyft credits and the fee is still $550 for those that applied for the CSR after June. Hope they keep the 5x groceries or adopt a 3x back on groceries from now on.

Currently have a CSP, Alaska Airlines Visa, and Southwest RRW Plus Card. We like to get points for travel. I think my wife is going to get the CSP card with a referral from me but not sure what card I should apply for next. Probably going to cancel the Alaska card before next annual fee. Not sure about Southwest though. Any suggestion on next card for me?
