The new US Bank Altitude Go has been billed as the best credit card for the COVID-19 lifestyle. I.e. its bonus categories cover exactly where people are spending money during lockdown conditions. You could also say it is one of the best cash back cards since it earns 4% at restaurants including food delivery.

Does dining include fast food, restaurants, and mom and pop restaurants?

I stopped using my Uber card the day they killed cash back. I been using the us bank cash + for 5% on fast food. But doesn’t include restaurants.

$15 credit is nice. I pay $5 a month for spotify. Put it on that card and get a 25% return (plus another 1.20%). I can just put Netflix on discover/freedom when it's a 5% category and call it a day.

What do you recommend for me since I’m on team Cashback and don’t spend a lot? The US altitude go or the chase freedom? Both have $200 intro bonus. I probably spend more on Amazon than I do for eating out. BUT, I don’t have a single chase card yet and don’t want to get 5/24 locked out.

Haha if only U.S. Bank actually called this the COVID Card 😂 VERY good new card. No AF…plus no interest for a year…plus it pays YOU in the form of a streaming credit…and it offers a strong return on spend with points that can be used for cash 💳 I’ll likely get it, but will wait until the Altitude Connect is released later this summer to see which I prefer first. 💯

I just applied and got approved for a 10k credit limit. I already have the US bank Cash card which I pay my utilities and streaming services at 5% cash back. Now I have the combo of U.S Bank Cards with no annual fee. I was worried when I applied since I had just gotten approved for a 3% Signature Cash Back card with AOD. Those will be my 3 x amigos going forward from now on.

Nice review Shifu. As the presiding Captain of “Team Cash Back”, I like this card quite a bit.

A no annual fee card, with a Dining category bonus equal to the Capital One Savor card (which carries a $95/year fee). No, the Altitude GO doesn’t give you the 4x on “Entertainment”, but my guess is most people use the Dining part more than the Entertainment part. Most especially with many events being shuttered because of the Big Rona.

For someone without a universal 2x card, I’d say the GO’s 2x offerings are actually really useful as well. Fuel, Groceries, and Streaming Services…all things that most people would reasonably purchase. Of these, the Streaming multiplier is the one that personally excites me the most.

Yes, the AmEx Blue Cash Preferred gives more cash back on Streaming Services…so can the USBank Cash+ card. But the GO offering that little $15 annual credit makes a huge difference, and the fact that the GO offers the bonus AND 2x, just makes it better.

I don’t see the need for the “hoop jumping” that you mentioned at all though. This bonus is “set it and forget it”. What matters is which streaming service you set up to get the credit with. Example: A $5.99/month Hulu subscription. On the BCP (at 6x) you’d get about $0.36 of cash back a month…roughly $4.32 a year. On the GO card, you’d only get about $0.12 of cash back a month…but roughly $16.44 a year (with the bonus). Obviously the more costly the subscription, the smaller impact the $15 credit makes…but for small subscriptions like Hulu, or maybe XM Radio or Spotify…the GO is king…even when you consider the other cards that offer a bigger multipliers.

Add on top of all of that, a $250 signup bonus for $1,000 in spend, 12 months of 0%, and no foreign transaction fees! Yes, this card will have a spot in my wallet for at least six months out of every year (all of the quarters that my Discover IT and Chase Freedom Flex aren’t featuring 5x on dining), and will also take care of my monthly $6.06 XM subscription full time.

For the record, USBank cards also have the absolute fastest notification of spend (to my mobile app). Most of the time, I have the alert pop up on my phone before the cashier hands my card back to me. For all of these reasons, the Altitude GO is easily one of the best new card offerings I’ve seen for a while now; and has made me MUCH less sad about the Uber card getting nerfed.
