New SoFi Credit Card: BEST 2% CASH BACK Credit Card? – Waller’s Wallet

by YouTube Team

SoFi offers many different products from refinancing student loans to investing, and now they are launching a cashback credit card. Is the SoFi credit card a better card than the favorite 2% card, the Citi DoubleCash? Plus I think there are a few things they could do appeal more to millennials with student loan debt and really make this card a must have.

Good new 2% card. Hope it’s easy to get with credit scores in the low to mid 600s. That’s make it accessible to a lot of people to build credit & be rewarded along the way 💳👍✈️

Personally think it’s definitely a slightly better 2% card for someone that’s not into the points game due to the world elite MasterCard benefits and the no fx fees

No annual fees and the no-foreign transaction fees makes this an interesting choice if travel ever opens up again! Great video!

I still think the Amex BBC is still the best 2% no AF card. Amex offers and customer service are always amazing.

Not related to credit cards… But HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE 😊😊🔥

The card wins simply on the fact it has no foreign transaction fees it’s perfect for Miscellaneous spend that don’t fall under any categories citi DC doesn’t offer that and the PayPal card is through Synchrony which I would never touch and apply adds a great option to us the consumers 👍

Can't use this MC at Costco and its gas station. Will have to use the Fidelity 2% cb Visa instead.

Seems like a good try but not enough to pull the trigger. I think you're dead on, this needs more integration into SoFi's existing banking products like student loan repayments. When card issuers build up and take advantage of their own ecosystem, it usually leads to better ways to redeem for us. And makes it harder to jump ship from the card issuer view point.

Thanks for talking about this card!! Always neat to learn about the upper tier all around cards 🙂

I believe the $5 Postmates credit for using a Mastercard has ended unfortunately. Such a shame too since it was a good benefit.

Almost sounds like an copycat version of Citi DoubleCash.

Slightly better than Fidelity rewards card, and more perks than the PayPal mastercard. Good choice for those with a Sofi account already.

Decent credit card for people who don’t care about bonus. But not interested personally if they don’t give a sign up bonus

Do you see any credit card issuer going 3% on everything in the near future?

That is an interesting idea for banks to tie their credit cards to their other products in some way (e.g., investment accounts, loans, etc.). 🧐

For someone who wants to have one no-AF card setup this is a decent option, but I imagine absolute majority of subscribers to this channel can do much better with Citi DC. Another group of people who might be interested are high-volume MSers, but SoFi seems to have their act together in terms of tech and I don't think one will be able to cycle their CL daily with this card for a long time.

Better benefits than PayPal or citi doublecash. At lease cell phone protection instead of no benefits…

I love SoFi banking, with certain subscriptions I get cash back for and it’s only a debit card so I’m looking forward to the credit card if it’s worth it

I think MasterCard and Postmates are parting ways and that benefit is no longer available. I saw a OMAAT article on that awhile back.

What do you recommend for someone's first credit card? I cut mine up about 2 years ago when I was in credit card debt so now I don't have one but I'm looking to get into one

Citi double cash and Amex blue business plus are better in my opinion because they earn travel points…

That said, as a no foreign transaction fee card, and given that the SoFi bank card is usable internationally at any ATM and refunds ATM fees with a good exchange rate, I think the SoFi mastercard + SoFi money account combo could be alright. However, I think if you bank with bank of america / merril, the BofA Premium Rewards card cannot be beat, earning 2.625% on non bonus spend with no foreign transaction fees… I dont think I would get this card myself, I do have a SoFi money account for the debit card though which is my primary debit card that I carry because I like the flexibility to use any ATM… I will usually carry a small sum of cash in the SoFi account for emergencies, but it makes more sense to me to transfer cash to that account rather than use it for points earning

I would rather wait for the Samsung Rewards credit card by SoFi to come out. This will also work with Samsung Pay.
(Samsung Rewards cardholders get discounts on Samsung Products as well as all the benefits of this SoFi Mastercard.)
(Apple has Apple Card, and Samsung has Samsung Card, but only in South Korea.)

I think the Fidelity 2% is better than this. At least you can put your cash back into a index funds.

Awesome vid! I went ahead and applied I don’t know why. I really like SoFi as an investment app. It’s simple and I haven’t had any issues at all. I got to say that they are very generous with the credit limits.

I think it's pretty good, but i would have like to see 1 percent cash back with the 2 percent if redeemed to sofi money or sofi invest and then 3 percent if put toward your loans because then they could tout it as a real heavyweight in paying off your loans rather than just keeping on par with other 2% cash back cards

I've been using the SoFi credit card for 5 months and my favorite feature is the ability to auto redeem your rewards directly into your SoFi checking account. You can also redeem rewards the moment your transactions clear, so essentially daily. That's unheard of.
