Episode Description

Last year Tilmann Fertitta got approval to build a brand new mega-hotel and casino on the Strip at Harmon and Las Vegas Blvd. Many of the old shops and businesses have been torn down, but this week we learned that the casino may not move forward anytime soon. Is inflation going to cost us this new property?

In other #news Siegfried and Roy’s famous Jungle Palace is for sale for $3 million and we get a good look inside. Unique and quirky but is it worth it? We also discuss the new “Bellagio of Reno”, Cosmo’s imminent changeover and what you need to know, terrible parenting in #Vegas and part of #Fontainebleau coming to life.

As someone who is in the mgm rewards ecosystem, I’m looking forward to getting some offers at the cosmopolitan! I get that identity people must be bummed but this is great for me.

I was in Reno once, back in the 1990s. We stayed at the Silver Legacy. It was a pretty cool place to be, but I know things have not gone well for the city in recent years. Mark, where are you getting your pizza?

Renoite here. I drove by what was the Sands to find the whole building with new colors and a funny lookin cursive “l” written on the top. Glad to know it actually stands for the Reno Bellagio… The Reno area is great for if you like outdoor recreation and a quick trip to one of the most beautiful alpine lakes in the world, Lake Tahoe.

The lady who pretty much got everything after their deaths wont be happy until every trace of S&R's legacy is erased from Vegas history. Sad

I'm concerned about the Cosmo changeover as I have a booking coming up and double booked with MGM however I was told this wasn't happening for sometime so a bit afraid that this will be red flagged and I may lose the room. hope you guys can get more insight info on this THX…

Reno sucks. Been there twice and was unimpressed both times. Send Chris Angel there for a performance.

Reno they used to bus people in from San Francisco and then casinos opened in California and killed that.

Plaza has a great bank of full pay video poker machines but they're all the way in the back bar by the sportsbook. I always walk over there for a little while every trip.

In the early 2000s I went to a bachelor party weekend at the Sands Regency Reno. My main memory is the groom somehow getting into the middle of a bum fight outside and losing a tooth. Sounds like things might be better now.

RIP Cosmo 🙁 MGM is going to fuck it up as usual. Identity is the best rewards on the strip.

I’ve stayed at the sands Reno. It sounds like they are going to raise prices and will lose their budget clientele. Will they attract enough people with money to offset what they are going to lose?

Can't wait for Cosmo to switch. I've been a loyal MGM player, but love playing at Cosmo too…

If they don't put up the hotel on the south end of the strip for a while, it would be nice to see open area with some nicely done landscaping. After watching that late 80s video, I remember all the open space there was.
Pretty amazing.

Love the Vegas updates, but please, less inside, Vegas-centric jokes. I don’t get them and too many are just stupid and annoying.

Their kids are the ultimate coolers so leave’em with security. Maybe those parents need to be shown some videos on the tragedy at Prim casino decades ago. When I started playing poker in Vegas, if a player showed two pair with queens as the higher pair… the dealer would call it Sigffrey and Roy (Queens up). They were really a great act for a long time. Really sad how things ended for them. I wish the Fontain would have maintained the Miami theme, but if they are as good as Wynn and Venetian I’d be down. I probably will give them a shot on your recommendation.

Used to live and jog down vegas valley by S&R mansion. I would see Sigfried almost every day pulling out the gate on the east side. Never a hair outta place and always gave a wave back. The guest houst across VV was sold in 2018. Mirage had a tour package of the home. Always decorated the gates on holidays. There were storage trailers just north on VV parked on a corner lot with Melinda, the first lady of magic insignia…maybe they were connected? That is a rough neighborhood…Im sure it wasnt that way when they built it.

Saw the reference at the beginning of your clip today about the person dropping their kid off at the security desk down at Fremont so that they could play craps…. Funny, but I didn’t think that Victor from the All Casino Action channel had a child…. 😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣

I expect a lot of these new casino projects to stall…………looks like we are finally getting where we all knew this economy was going………..jobs are great and savers finally getting rewarded at 6% plus but interest rates are killing people living on credit. 2-3 years from now first time homebuyers are going to regret it

Martin Yan needs an HBO Max show like Julia Childs is getting. If you grew up in the Pacific Northwest or California he was on TV forever. As an MGM loyalist, I’m interested to see how they’re only gonna do gaming rewards. Will I have to pay resort fees if i book there? Can’t wait to find out. Either way, I’m happy with the options MGM has now.

If Fontainebleu opens on time, it will be 31 years between the Thunderbird/El Rancho II closing in 1992 and a resort opening on that spot. Absolutely insane for Vegas and it's going to be very historical finally walking into a casino on that site!

I’ve stayed at the Sands. The casino is actually very clean but the rooms are not very nice. This is a shady part of Reno and some of the clientele is questionable. I went with a group from the Sheriff’s department for their annual getaway.
We used to stop in to eat at Mel’s Diner but sadly it closed last year. If you need a little nostalgia, this will take you back 50 years lol!

I wonder if the person who bought Siegfried & Roy's Mansion has the initials S R?🤔

Reply

There are definitely tackier & more dated mansions in Las Vegas. S&R's has some nice spaces & a decent color palate at least 🙂

I like Reno, but it's not Vegas or even "Little Vegas." It could definitely use some revitalization for tourism and I hope the J can do that.

For the $19k a month house payment at S&Rs you could rent out those 3 houses and let eveyone have the run of the main house and make bank, $1000 per night, only need to sell 19 nights a month, anyone want to loan me $3 million ?
