NEW TRANSFER BONUS For Chase Ultimate Rewards Points – Waller’s Wallet

by YouTube Team

For only the second time ever Chase Ultimate Rewards is offering a transfer bonus to one of their UR Transfer partners. This hopefully means more transfer bonuses like we see with Amex points and Citi points. While IHG points aren’t the best hotel points, there could be a few situations where this option could be decent for your points.

Great news as that’s a fairly substantial bonus!

There’s a IHG point sale at ends today. Buy as low as 0.5 cpp. So even with the promotion, it would be better to cash out your Chase points and just use the cash to buy the IHG points directly.

Love that you haven't hopped on the Stimulus clickbait bandwagon. Good stuff man!

So wouldnt it be best to just book the ihg hotel through the travel portal rather than transferring the points?

love it! you are right tho, make the transfer partner more substantial. Gotta get Hyatt or Marriott into the transfer game.

I was hoping for Hyatt. Oh well. Nice to see the transfer bonus back

Chase needs to do the same for Marriott which has more locations worldwide.

Hey Dustin. I love the new sound but your compression sounds a bit high.

I agree with Waller 101%. Hyatt is my go to card when it comes to 1-2 days stays, I have 85,000 IHG points, and they are not very valuable. The only time I use my IHG points is when I find a good Cash to Points redemption rate, and am planning a 4-5 days vacation, because IHG Premier gives me 4th night FREE when booking with Points.

my man is talking slower than molasses in order to extend out the video playtime and boost his own paycheck. I guess you cant hate the player, gotta hate the game.

As you explained, why would anyone ever transfer UR to IHG? 🙂 Also IHG might go bankrupt…

Great Vid! I think you're undervaluing IHG points a bit — it varies place to place, but (for example) Frequent Miler gives a reasonable redemption value of 0.65 cents per point, and I have found places that come in more like 0.7 or 0.75 cents per point. There are some very specific use cases and you can sometimes play the "points + cash game" to buy in low, and then use high. A good use might be to get those first 5,000 points to get started. But, your overall points stands, other than a few very specific cases, probably better to use the portal.

Chase doing good things recently. Will not be using this bonus but good to see this as more benefits!

Doesn't seem like this is worthwhile since the points are worth so little, even with the 60% bonus. But if this is a trend that continues to other partners, then that would be good to see. If they do this with Southwest, that would be great, and even Marriott would be good for me, depending on how much the bonus is.

I’ve found there are still some good IHG values out there… Like some good Holiday Inn express hotels near Disneyland for 12500 points… Those are much better than 0.5/1.

IHG sucks!

Reply
J Rome July 31, 2020 - 6:12 pm

Still not enough. If you just need a little top off, fine, but anything more than that is a waste. Better to just buy them for .5cpp if you need

COVID-19 isn’t going away, limited travel for at least until 2022, these high cost travel cards are going to have to change to survive.

Chase definitely needs to step up their transfer bonus game🤘

Reply
waldofunk July 31, 2020 - 8:10 pm

This bonus still doesn't make sense since you can buy IHG points right now for .005 a point. So it's a better rate to get cash back and then buy the points even at 1 cent per UR point.

I agree with your optimism, hopefully Chase will do this again but get a little more creative and make it more valuable.

Thanks also for the reminder about transferring to Hyatt, I haven’t done that yet but everyone agrees that’s the single best transfer partner. We’re all gonna forget how to work the system, Covid has ruined so many vacation plans.

I didn’t take up Chase on the option to cash out, just letting points stack up. I’ll be ready once Covid is over. 👍

Keep up the great work!
