The PNC Cash Rewards credit card doesn’t review a lot of attention, but for a small bank credit card it actually is an interesting cash back credit card. This card could be a solid gas credit card, but it also has some interesting limitations. But even with its limitations, the PNC Cash Rewards Visa card could be an option for someone looking for a credit not from Chase or American Express

Had this for a bit and use it for gas and food/drinks at Wawa.
Showing love 😉
Hey man can you make a video on this credit card? https://www.aboundcu.com/Spend-Save/Personal-Accounts/Credit-Cards/Cash-Back-VISA-Card
Do they allow product changes for when they nerf this?
I like the bandanna. 😎
Yeah i'd get this for just gas. Surprised i never heard of it before .
Does the first bank card not have 5 percent gas anymore? 😰 im still using that for gas 😣
Where can I get that manly pink shirt! Looking solid amigo.
You nailed it Dustin. I got the card for the $100 sub and it's gets one Amazon reload charge every 3 months for activity. Even at 4% cash back I hate the $25 redemption threshold because I'd have to spend $625 in gas before I hit my first $25 redemption and ain't nobody got time for that.
I’m 20 and PNC got me to open that card when I was 19 and didn’t know about credit cards. Wish I had gotten denied. The bank sucks!!!! Better to get Costco card for same perks and more!
Not to mention the PNC bank app UI sucks!!
As a later gamer, I am not down with this card…..lol.
It's about time a credit card YouTuber covered this card!
I had been thinking of this as a potential gas card, but since the COVID shutdowns started in March I've been working virtually and not commuting at all so it doesn't really make sense for me right now, and I'm probably not alone in that situation.
My PNC Cash Rewards Card is a Visa Signature Card. Although it was my first credit card my mom co-signed on this card. I have had other accounts for years so I have a good banking relations with this bank. I have some recurring purchases on this card and I rarely use it unless I run across a merchant that doesn’t accept Amex.
Good content, especially with Chase accounts! I'm trying to open an account with your referall link but the website looks like it only offers one free stock (+3-month level advance subscription free). Is it actually 2 free stocks or needs to be updated?
Great video as always Waller. Can u do a chase video explaining how the portal works with the flex vs using points and if either are worth it? Of course this would probably be after the flex is released..
I have this card. I don't find myself using it now that I have the propel and expect to get the wf visa signature and redeeming those points for flights at essentially 4.5 cents per dollar spent.. Also, even before the propel I'm using the AMEX gold, the current sign up bonus i'm working on, which I can just get gas gift cards at grocery stores with while hitting the 60k MR point sign up bonus (4x points redeeming through schwab = 5 cents per dollar). I'd say if you consider yourself a serious player and aim to get the most out of your cards, you won't find too many opportunities to use it and PNC will not offer bonuses similar to Chase, Amex, or even Bank of America (75% Platinum Honors redemption bonus). As it sits currently I'm at about $17 in my cash back balance on the PNC cash rewards and I can't redeem those until I hit $25.. which means I still need to spend $200 on gas purchases using this card just to redeem those. I still haven't figured out how to set up auto pay and am thinking it isn't even possible (so keep that in mind).. if someone knows please let me know.
However, if you're about the simple life and plan to open just a few cards this one would be good for the gas purchases. Although I don't think too many people watching credit card videos are looking for that necessarily. The main benefit I see in having this account open is just to have an established relationship with PNC bank which I would otherwise not have, in case I want to utilize their services one day. And it doesn't cost me anything so that's definitely a decent reason to keep this account in good standing.
Great video. As always, well researched and informative. Not a card for me right now, but great to learn about these options from smaller banks.
I used to bank at pnc & was going to apply for this card, but their external bank transfers would take too long to process, so i closed my accounts. Great earning rates, but Those restrictions on this card make it a “just meh” card.
I use this card strictly for gas and I don’t hate it. It was my first non secured credit card and it’s a great card for gas, beating out the rest of my cards. It is a solid card for frugal people who don’t want an annual fee. Not the best for high spenders
Strange card. Not a gas user, so it has no value to me. Might have been interesting 10-15 years back. Thanks.
It's a nice card. But, the spending limit is just too low for my family. What are your thoughts on gas station credit cards that earn 5% back on gas? Kind of like a store card where it's only good at the gas station but, you get 5% back. Take care Dustin and stay safe!! Edit: after researching, its not 5% back. You save either 5 cents to 10 cents off of gas. I guess i would have to do the math.
NOT from Chase or American Express… haha. For what it’s worth it doctors in my area HATE PNC for their biz banking.
and it’s not even a visa signature card. lol
Family friend used this card to put her husband and kids on a budget.
Still the best Credit Card reviewer out here. I knew about this card before but not many others are willing to review a small card like this. Is this the best Gas card without a needing to be in the military or a paid member of a group? Or am I missing something?
Costco comes out ahead when it comes to gas.
Well I guess you convinced PNC bank because now they have a banner showing the bonus offer
Great content as always! I’ve had this card for a few months and use it mostly for gas. Mine was issued as a Visa Signature, too.
Ducks Unlimited card has 5% back on gas. Not very good for anything else though.
I got this card in March and they gave me $25k. I like it overall, but there bonuses could be way better as well as the structure of the card. The redemption limit sucks. And the $100 bonus was given to me as an immediate statement credit and it was back-dated too, which was really weird.
Since I already have the Costco card this doesn't do anything for me, and while the cash back on gas isn't bad, I feel like most people wouldn't spend enough on gas to make it worthwhile and the 3% on dining you can get elsewhere pretty easily. I guess if someone spends a lot on gas but doesn't find Costco worthwhile then maybe this could be useful, so there might be a niche.
Thanks for reviewing this. Definitely good to get reviews of lesser known cards with potential for large circumstantial value.
do u record in the dark 🤔
Is this card available for regions where pnc doesn’t have a physical precense?
Gotta love a decent card option from a regional bank. I totally agree that minimum point value for a redemption is lame. $8,000 cap isn't too bad if someone is just using this for gas and restaurants.
this card is great for all delivery drivers lol. Also a trick is at Super Gas Stations like Wawa and Quick Check for example you can purchase any type of items in store and still get the 4% back
Hey, I came over here after seeing this card mentioned in your "BEST Credit Cards For ROAD TRIPS" vid.
This is looking like a card I need in my wallet for all the money I spend in convenience stores and truck stops, most of which bill as "gas station" if they sell gas. As a truck driver, I'm in these places every day. I have a PenFed Platinum Rewards card that gives me 5x points (4.25%) on gas purchases, but it does not cover what I spend in the store. I think I can get close to their $8k/yr spend limit just using this for the non-gas purchases I make at "gas stations." That would be breakfast, lunch, drinks, and snacks just about every working day. (I know, not the healthiest way to eat.)
Who dose pnc pull from ( credit bureaus)
Have this card! It is one of the Top points card per category out there with no fee.Really not a fan of the minimum that you can redeem but besides that it is a Really good card for the category it is intended! Happy to see it get some shine!
Unless you see yourself spending more than $666/month on gas, restaurants, and groceries combined, you’ll never hit this cap
Do all gas stations apply?
