Episode Description
My wife and I recently completed a stay at #Cosmopolitan of Las #Vegas to see if the hotel holds up after being sold to MGM Resorts. We’ll talk why Cosmo has the best rooms in Vegas, some of the unique aspects of staying there and whether or not anything has changed under the new ownership. Is Cosmo still Cosmo?
In other #news we learned that Vegas casinos have reported record earnings for the 2nd quarter. MGM, Caesars and Wynn all reported very strong earnings with MGM setting record numbers. We also discuss new 50 foot showgirls coming to town, a Top Golf competitor, why the current Bellagio display is the best, $35 Korean BBQ on the Strip & how a local restaurant owner is going to jail for not reporting sales.

We just love the chemistry between you two. It’s impeccable.
Surprised that you didn’t mention our friend Criss Angels TV show Magic with the stars. ✨⭐️✨⭐️
I thought they said we're going into a recession? lol
Amazing that people are paying all the higher prices
Airfare, hotel, car rental and then gambling on top of that. It's truly amazing to me. Korean barbecue sounds good. I've always enjoyed staying at Cosmo
Ultra modern rooms when first built and the casino was always fascinating to me. Interested in seeing the results of the building
that's replacing the Harmon building. Great information, thanks guys.
Caesars is buying the Excalibur and palace station has been sold to Barona
Service is extremely important to me. I’ve been tanking more trips to Nashville and cities know for a good time. Sorry vegas.
The new mall does seem to fit. Like it was always supposed to bet there.
Cosmopolitan, guys, Cosmopolitan! It’s not Cosmo!!!! Don’t be like the other pathetic Las Vegas YouTubers.
Thank you for my chase sapphire preferred card the benefits are so good I got a free trip to Vegas thank you so much I love it thanks telling us about it plus enough for food and a little gambling
I have to think that the Cosmo will not change much under MGM ownership. MGM bought the Cosmo because of it's popularity and uniqueness. If they ruin that uniqueness, it won't really be the Cosmo that people love and it will depreciate their investment. I'm sure there will be SOME changes, but nothing to dramatic.
I've been getting email offers for Cosmo that are fairly competitive for a mid week std room. I only went there once for a slot group pull so it isn't from my gambling there. Thanks for the info and have a great weekend guys.
My wife wants to stay at the Cosmo in the worst way. She refuses until MGM gets it all squared away. All in for the Korean BBQ.
To the Vegas strip,
This is what I hear in the news. It rains and then the casino floors get wet from leaking roofs. So what type of cheap construction do your businesses contract for? ARE THERE BUILDING CODES IN VEGAS? Or do the casinos just pay the inspectors off? Makes a person wonder if the Hotels are safe to stay in.
Streets flooding. Really?? No infrastructure to handle rainfall? Or do you spend the tax money on sports stadiums instead??
Crime and shootings. Seems as if there is atleast 1 shooting per week. Also if you say a casino/resort is gun free, then enforce those rules. Otherwise just put up signs saying that there is a chance of being shot. And I guess somehow the casinos will manage to charge the person who was shot, known as a victim, a resort fee for being shot.
In short, I can now do sports betting in my state. Why go to Vegas that has leaky casinos, crime on the streets, and poor service with high prices?? I get a free hotel room at a local casino for being a regular and their buffet is great.
Would love to visit Vegas again but between high airfare, high rates(including resort fees) for hotel rooms, and the crime in Vegas(BTW how many sports related DUIs will continue to happen before Vegas reaches out to the sports community to stop it) I am amazed anyone is visiting Vegas. Just how do you charge high rates at a casino that is under water??
I got 4 tickets to see Adele Section 206 row P for $415 each with fees. I went on Seat Geek and the same row one ticket is $2741 each!!!! How can they sell for so much?????
It seems the Disney effect has crept into Vegas. Charging more and more for less services. I think people need to realize the more arenas, sports teams, major residencies, and festivals come to Vegas, the more the room rates go up. Last weekend the Red Hot Chili Peppers played allegiant stadiums. To stay at park mgm cost over $300. To stay at bellagio was over $600. When football season starts again the prices are going to go up for what is traditionally the slow season. Now as new properties roll in these existing properties are going to start lowering their prices to compete because why would you overpay to stay at an existing property when a brand new one is across the way?
"Cook your own food, now pay me!" lol That's pretty funny.
You guys do a fine job reporting the LV news. Thank you and keep ‘em coming please. Let me correct that…. You do a great job reporting!
I’m still out here praying someone one day builds the “London” themed resort on the former Wyne west property. Will it ever happen, no, will I keep hoping it comes up as a rumour in these videos, yes
Many of these small mom and pops restaurants under-report earnings – no surprises here! We have a Chinese restaurant in our town that doesn't report any cash sales, and never provide a receipt.
I cancelled my second Vegas trip and going to New Orleans instead. I went to Vegas in May, and usually go twice a year. Not anymore though…
Prefer Wynn/Encore over Cosmo rooms. Just a matter or personal taste in the decor for me.
Cosmo security is corrupt and I hope it gets exposed. A lot of cases against them.
100 pieces of bacon can send you to the hospital buddy. Careful
Love your updates. Informative and fun. Safe travels.
Any update on mom’s meatloaf? 😂
Great show again Shawn and Mark – Any news on when construction will start at the Mirage?
Well of course you didn’t get a bad experience at Cosmo, the guy was being discriminated against.
Las vegas was chosen for a few reasons- natural springs were abundant back then, mormons built a fort as a 1/2 way mail stop between SLC and LA, silver mining, then the construction of Hoover Dam in 1931 set the stage for its growth
Stay at the Golden Nugget. Cheap, clean, free covered parking with in/out privileges for guests, lots to do. Anything tied to MGM means no value. Hard to enjoy yourself when you're bleeding cash. Ellis Island is a good consideration too.
I would like to know how RW is also doing
Las Vegas' location wasn't exactly chosen…. In the 1910s the city was occupied mostly by railroad workers and ranchers and the spirit of the Wild West (aka prostitution, gambling, and other lawless behavior) blossomed. In the early 1930s gambling was permanently legalized in Nevada, and with the construction of the Hoover Dam being during the same time period, thousands upon thousands of workers fled to Las Vegas in seek of entertainment. Some of them never left and by the mid 1940s Mob run casinos began successful operations. The rest is history;)
It's the boomer boom. He's right! Locked down for 2 years and tons of money saved. And spending it not caring about price cause they want to get out. I say the boomer boom cause the amount of people i see out over 60 is amazing! Even here in Connecticut out local nightlife is seeing folks much older than we use to see coming out and partying. But i think it's short lived. By next year things slow down alot!
The strip became a "thing" to avoid the regulation and taxes imposed by the city. I've been doing Vegas for 41 years. The changes since 1981, are incredible. Many of those things on that map still existed in the 80s. Now, the only thing left is the Flamingo.
I visit the Bellagio conservatory every trip. Going to see this version next week. I'll be interested to hear more about the Bacon Nation after it opens.
I stay at Cosmo 2 to 3 times a year parking is free if you are a paying guest you just use your keycard
No Criss Angel reference??@!???
Thanks again for another great video ! I always enjoy them .
I parked my car at the Wynn self parking structure , level A-1 , 4 spots from the corridor of elevators . I checked into my room , one night and 24 hours later came back to a crashed car . Wynn is and will not take any responsibility whatsoever and the final call from security investigator was sorry to tell you that the cameras where you parked were broken and we have no evidence . One night fir my bday , what would have been my 20th wedding anniversary and my husbands heaven bday cost me $900.00
Are the 50 ft showgirls going to charge you for a photo?
Good show. I believe there is no trees and foliage at the Cosmopolitan pools because of the pool deck fire they had a few years ago. I remember seeing on the news a palm tree on fire.
Good to hear your stay at Cosmopolitan went well. Any changes MGM makes, for good or bad, probably won’t be noticeable until next year. Did your room still have a free mini refrigerator?
I hope the Korean BBQ restaurant at Miracle Mile is successful, but I wouldn’t bet on it. That location seems to be cursed, multiple businesses have come and gone from that spot. I remember when it was the Mikado Japanese buffet.
The mall on Harmon get it built already so they can stop blocking lanes of traffic.
Great show as always guy’s! I canceled my trip for October this year after thinking over my trip this past May! The strip and the experience is so over rated now in my opinion, man the prices and the service suck and the comps are terrible not to mention they limit labels when drinking at some of the bars when gambling. If I was to go again I would stay downtown however to be honest I don’t think I’m Vegas bound again anytime soon. Love the show, keep up the great work guy’s!
What! No Chris Angel!!!
Broke the streak. No Criss Angel reference.
Vegas got its start as a "railroad town, with meadows" ("Las Vegas", in Spanish "the meadows")….with lots of natural water/wells….Hoover Dam later put it on the map with electricity and population from construction……legal gambling and Nellis Air-Force base, along with the mob did the rest….its also a very Mormon town from the beginning!
You two know how to underreport $5.1 million. Remember the casino skim? Who says you can't do it in a restaurant? In fact, it's probably easier… no cameras to record the shenanigans in a counting room.
Attack of the 50 foot Showgirls. Any earning report for Resorts World Genting ?
