No doubt the old offer was better. 5k points after your first purchase. I spent $4 at Lowe's and got 5k points. The multipliers for the new offer are better on other cards. No reason to get this card for this offer.
Great analysis, this is an absurd “bonus.” Could also say the personal Amex Gold card has a 4 million point sign up bonus for your first $1 million in spend at restaurants with no time limit.
I wish they would just drop the annual fee in Green cards or something else to make them somewhat interesting. Note that the Blue Business Plus has charge card like features with no annual fee.
I think Amex green should be everyone’s first card. It teaches that whatever you charge MUST be paid that same month. Great way to learn about the world of credit.

Their business cards are a mess. I feel like the blue plus, gold and platinum are the only ones worth it. I could see the plum being interesting… but that annual fee is high.
