In this video we are going to help you correctly identify that it is a real card, you have received, so you A don’t mistake it for junk mail and B know it is real and not a scam. And then at the end we will give you what I think is the biggest tip to avoid scams and imitations of these cards.

So the first thing that is throwing people off is the address on the envelope

That is right, card holder services, that sounds awfully familiar…

Oh right, card holder services only the name of the most frequent phone scam we receive here in the US! I’m sure they could have picked a better address and name. But anyway, that is what the envelope will say, no US treasury or IRS, but Money Network Cardholder Services, the most common return address on the envelope seems to be PO box 247022, Omaha, NE, 68124-7022 although there may be other addresses, but the Money Network Cardholder Services is for sure.

The card will be stuck to a letter like a regular or scam credit card would be, and it will have the logo of the treasury right at the bottom. There will be an insert that also has the logo of the treasury on it which will use the term Economic Impact Payment. Not stimulus payment, Trump bucks anything else.

The card itself will have the Visa logo on the front top right corner with this American flag design, just the stars from the flag. And on the back it will say money network, that it is issued by Meta Bank North America and it will have Metabank’s logo, plus a few other logos.

Now to activate this card you do need to phone a number and give the last 4 digits of your social security number so that is why a lot of people are hesitant, I mean would you give your social security number to someone from cardholder services that randomly contacted you? I certainly wouldn’t.

But to know it is real you just need to know the number you are calling for activation is correct and that number is 1 800 240 8100 (If you are deaf and use TTY there is another number 1 800 240 9100) but for most people it is the one ending in 8100. So if you receive a letter with a different number, then it could be a scam and I wouldn’t give those people your social. You can find all this information on the website EIPcard.com.
