Travel Freely –
Episode Description
This week Harry Reid Las #Vegas #airport released the passenger numbers for 2022 and once again Vegas is breaking records. The interesting news is that the airport is projected to reach capacity by 2030 which could cause pain for travelers. We’ll discuss the new relief airport that is planned and why it won’t be online until 2037. What happens until then?
In other #news we learned that the Grand Bazaar shops at Horseshoe are getting a major facelift and reimagining with new larger venues, the reduction of small shops and a new name. Will this help the unpopular and unsightly mall? We also discuss the new Ojos Locos latino casino, a woman who allegedly stole $100K from a man’s hotel room, startling Vegas sprawl and how we are now committed to 10 years of Formula1 races.

Regarding Uber and Lyft pricing. I agree the prices are double last year and all over the board. I am talking about Fort Lauderdale, Florida. So from where I live to the FTL airport for years was between $16. and $22. in a yellow cab. My neighbor just paid $65. in an Uber. Yikes. On top of the higher prices you now have to pay a gas surcharge of $2. to $3. on each ride. If you travel in the morning the prices are rather normal. After 12 noon they start going up and by Happy Hour, 4 pm, to the rest of the night it is outrageous.
I think a Brightline in Vegas is a fantastic idea. Actually they should build a Brightline from LA to Vegas.
Mark is spot on. Increase in local population will increase some airport traffic.
The share ride apps are using the same algorithm… they know you will go to other if you back out the app. They know your shopping, but will let you pay inflated price if you dont question it.
Are you telling me you don't take random woman you met on the gambling floor that offers you massage up to your zoom? How else are you gonna meet Harry Styles?
As someone who lives in Seattle, what is currently happening with Harry Reid is a preview of what could happen at SeaTac if we cannot get another major airport into our area. Luckily there is some sort of a plan in place here to ensure that Paine Field (near Everett) will be expanded to accommodate SeaTac's traffic. However the building of a new international airport is very unlikely in my view due to many areas outside of Seattle not wanting to deal with the noise, environmental damage & most importantly the costs associated with a new airport. When it comes to the Uber scam it's not just in Vegas where that happens as I recently experienced something similar while visiting Portland Oregon a few weeks ago where an Uber to the airport from my downtown hotel on a quiet Sunday afternoon was $80-100. However I waited 5 minutes & it went down to $25-30.
It is obvious. When you throw horseshoes the object is to get a ringer by throwing the horseshoe inside the ring. So call that area The Ring. Brilliant!!
#1 – Surprised that International Travel has NOT rebounded.
#2 – I’ve noticed while using “Lyft”, especially in Las Vegas, IF you do a “dummy” booking to see the price beforehand and then try to make a booking within the next 60+ minutes, the prices literally doubles, if not higher.
Nice to see the not so Grand Bazaar Shops area getting a facelift
Never use Uber. Always use Lyft. I have never in any of my trips to Vegas ever found Uber to be less expensive than Lyft. Even if it's only by a couple of bucks, Lyft is always cheaper. Every single time.
I actually LIKE the small shops outside of Horseshoe Casino (right out on the strip.) Lower prices, probably because of lower rent.
If Uber is price fixing they are setting themselves up for a MASSIVE class action suit.
And not to mention if Las Vegas gets a baseball and baseball team!!!! That will bring more private planes and fan traffic!!!!
6:48 that mall was built so that way they don’t have to pay union wages. The union contract doesn’t include the land in front of Bally’s. Any new restaurant opening inside the casino has to be union represented.
Good stuff guys once again. My understanding re safes; pretty easy to open when you have the”force ”.
Back in January Friday evening I tried to get Uber at resorts world to mirage which was confusing…the Uber some how ended up at fashion mall and I got penalized $6 for driver time usage…I ended up taking taxi for $10 which was cheaper than what Uber had quoted
17:41 I live in Vegas and I take Lyft for work if I can’t make it on the bus and I never paid more than $12 before the $20 tip. And I work 2-3 miles from home.
Uber was $35 to get home to Desert Inn and Paradise, I paid $24 taking a taxi and didn’t have to wait for the Uber.
Check the prices for Thursday of march madness. Highest prices I have ever seen
Yeah I heard about some dude that's been taking innocent peoples money on the strip for years and just making it disappear. Word is he's got some show in planet Hollywood.
Who are you guys fooling? $100 for a massage? They charge $100 for a lap dance. Look at the rates of women on The Erotic Review.
More people are flying now than driving
Formula 1 yawn
That is why that company is demolishing the casino in Jean and building a distribution center because they know a cargo airport is about to be built out there. And they are widening the 15 starting this summer. Also Las Vegas blvd. goes uninterrupted all the way to Primm it runs parallel to the 15 so look for it to be widened.
The Pit!
I know its too late for this airing, but the President made some sort statement cracking down on resort fees. Could you guys look into it?
😳
😳
We are coming in March 9, 11am' ish, How do you think Lyft or Uber will be for wait time. Or easier but more expensive for a limo..
Ojos locos in Mexico is used to describe or denote when someone is high, not one drug in particular but high nonetheless
Would never go race week you will just stand In line for everything it will be ridiculous..
Awesome show again guys. What are the odds we get a small blooper reel??? Haha, love it. If Vegas is going to grow up into an adult city, you need a top notch airport and you need a legit rail system. No monorail, no light rail, real passenger commuter train system. Vegas has been lucky its been small and its main attraction is somewhat centrally located
