Great video. One of the least known Amex products; I was always wondering what it does.

Thanks for sharing, it would be nice if it were the same Gold Card with the 4x benefits! However, it's still decent at no fee.

Grind, grind, grind. Packed with tons of info as always.

Nice idea…the problem is that Amex wants a certain type of customer. Unfortunately not the kind that wants discounts on Platinum/Gold cards bundles. That gold card should be renamed something else. It's confusing.

The gold card good for groceries but the fees are kinda high

Also this "fake" gold card is plastic. I told my lady that the metal for dining/grocery and the plastic for flights only.

Helpful content. As someone getting back into the credit card game, I find it extremely helpful mapping out my 5/24 strategy using MaxRewards app. I don’t see myself getting Amex Platinum within 2 years at least. I do value the Amex Gold multipliers over the Platinum multipliers. If this was Shark Tank, “For that reason, I am out” on this version of the Gold card.

My wife's authorized user gold card is the old school plastic card. This was issued this March. I've been told newer one are metal.

Also the card actually showed up as a Platinum card in the Amex app and mobile wallets.

Also, the almost always misidentified Gold card. It should be called, "Not that Gold Card", LOL.

I added 3 AUs to my Platinum. They don't always travel with me so the Lounge Access is great for them. in turn, they help me accumulate points.

YASSSS, finally someone said it. We had a long argument about this card at the credit society facebook group. Can those AU get their own Amex platinum SUB in the future?

Hey Dustin, great info on the Gold card authorized user card for the Amex Platinum. I added my wife as AU with the Gold. I didn't know about TSA or GE credit. So how would she get the fee reimbursed? Just charge it on the AU Gold card?

Do you get the same benefits? NO. Just the way it was said was my favorite part. Thanks for the laugh and the info

Getting them TSA precheck for free is a nice perk. I have some family who don't travel often, but I'm sure they'd appreciate pre-check. Granted, I don't have a Amex Platinum, but these sign up bonuses are tempting.

And the status and perks of the authorized user platinum isn't a bad value if you split the cost among three people. I'll have to keep these perks in mind. They may make the Platinum more valuable than I thought. Though I do like the idea of getting a reduced annual fee for the gold if you have the Platinum. The two cards do offer a lot together, but a $800 annual fee for both of them is quite a lot.

Look waller im saying it Amex points are not worth the time because the points are almost worthless these days spending $5,000 they have like a monopoly on their points they're definitely watching what you spend the money on and if you buy things that have good value they could easily say that your points not going to give it to you

So authorized users have access to potentially different Amex offers than the primary account holder, even though it's the same account? Is that what you meant? If so, does that hold true for authorized users of any Amex card?

I think the reason we don't hear much about this version is because it's a dud and doesn't do anything worthy of talking about in most situation. I mean, shy of those of us who have the 10x on gas and grocery, there's no reason for one to ever take the Platinum card away from the house…with maybe the exception a purchase where you need return/warranty protection and even then we're probably buying the item online and using a portal.

If I had someone who needed to book airfare I could just do it for them myself and save them a 5/24 slot since this card reports. I guess there's an argument to be made for the TSA/Global Entry but most of us get those credit from so many places. I just don't see a reason why anyone would want this card even for an AU unless you have no other Amex card and wants to help someone establish a credit profile.

Do you know if the AU Gold cards also get the 10X intro bonus on Gas and Groceries? Likely not….

I got this gold card for my granddaughter off my platinum; she now has her global entry and I allow her to take the $100 Saks benefit.

Why doesn’t Amex have a no annual fee downgrade path from the Platinum, Gold and Green Cards…? As someone who isn’t deep in the credit card game yet it’s frustrating because I’m a minimal spend person right now and I just can’t justify the high annual fees passed the sign up period

Hey Waller, thought you would want an update on me not receiving my first 1x $100 UA travel bank credit on my AMEX platinum on 12/12. Apparently another person who had recently upgraded to a Hilton Aspire had the same issue. I just got the platinum at the beginning of December. Me and the Aspire user selected UA as our airline and got the confirmation e-mail and immediately bought travel bank funds. It appears that even though you get a confirmation e-mail saying UA is now your selected airline, it could take 1-2 days to register in the system (maybe because we did it on the weekend of 12/12-12/13). I purchased some travel bank funds later in the week (2x $50) and they both got credited. So you may want to mention in your videos that it might be best wait a few days after you select your airline to make any travelbank purchases. Here's a link to the flyertalk post: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/american-express-membership-rewards/2002996-airline-fee-250-200-100-reimbursement-reports-ua-only-2020-a-39.html#post32896161

To sum it up quick. This card has 2 purposes for 98% of people:
1. Help achieve SUB minimum spend by giving a duplicate card to your spouse.
2. Getting another person a free TSA precheck.
