Episode Description
This week the LVCVA released the full 2022 numbers for Las #Vegas and there were some shocking numbers on the report. While visitors are slightly down from 2019, they are spending more than ever on hotels and in casinos. #Strip casinos took in more money from gamblers than ever despite having less customers. And it wasn’t even close!
In other #news we discuss a new report that says Las Vegas is the 4th most family friendly destination in America. How could this be? We also discuss Shawn’s crazy MSC casino experience, Criss Angel doing good for charity, another rumored A’s stadium site and how Resorts World has the best paid parking solution in Vegas.

I’m not losing money in Vegas, I’m investing in my future… in Vegas. 😩😂 Thank goodness for membership discounts and kickbacks!
Nice tax deduction for Criss Angel!
I live in San Antonio and there are tons of kid friendly attractions here and we made #10!?!?MIAMI? LOS ANGELES? HOUSTON? CHICAGO? ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?! Las Vegas is an ADULT playground, not for kids in my opinion! This list is garbage!
Aren't there slot machines made with cameras by now?
New Vegas hates the Low Roller.
The greatest thing that happened to Vegas, from the casino CEO point of view, was The Great Recession( TGR) initialed by Krazy Boy Cuomo and HornDog Willy Clinton in 1998. TGR resulted in the destruction of older Low Roller casinos like the Stardust, the Riviera, Desert Inn, Westward Ho, The Frontier.
So, Vegas is making more money on fewer people, including the convention people that come to Vegas on taxpayer money. Conventioneers write off a lot of their costs for transportation, rooms, food etc, as a tax deduction. So, much of the money that comes into Vegas is paid by people that can not afford to come to Vegas. Many of the small conventions are tax write off scam jobs.
So, the result is the elimination of the Low Roller, such as myself. Vegas lost money on me, as I took advantage of the low room rates, the $4 buffets, the free entertainment, and knowing the odds I don't gamble.
Casino owner Steve Wynn said " I have never known anyone to win in the long run playing casino games". and "The only one that wins at casino games, is the casino owner." If a casino owner is laughing at casino players, shouldn't that send a message to casino players, like the MTM boys.
One of the reasons for eliminating the buffets, was eliminating many of the vile Culinary Workers Union jobs. Now the little food shops have to deal with the Union on an individual basis, as the casino says– not our problem. The Culinary Union set off bombs in restaurants, had a picket line outside one restaurant for 20 years and closed down the entire Strip for about 3 days.
Going to automated gaming tables, hotel registration etc, also eliminates many Union jobs.
Great job today on your Vegas news#!!! A lot better than even Vegas TV news. Keep up the good work.
Yup, the problem is Vegas knows there's just too many morons that will keep coming to give their money to them.
The gaming revenue just keeps on getting better and better and I think that is why there are so many developers wanting to build resorts on the strip again, it is going to become a feeding frenzy if the stats keep getting better.
We need a casino that goes back to having all the old school benefits on that list and it will clean up. We need to stop showing all the support to the casinos charging us for breathing. I’ve lived in Vegas for 10 years I still love it but it was absolutely better 10 years ago buffets we’re my favorite.
Vegas is a Beast that needs to be feed and does not care.
I used to love Las Vegas restaurant pricing is now insane 2 people 2 drinks and steak at Hells Kitchen over $400 water beer drinks it’s so expensive the machines payouts suck and constantly tipping everyone it’s a fortune to go there now even when you get a free room.
Adjusting prices is straight criminal. Stunts like this among all the others do more harm that worth the couple extra dollars profit. Greedy pigs.
Like you said ..all they have to do is have digitized cards/qr code on your phone. They complicate the easiest things.
I think its a shame Vegas is taking advantage of ppl by raising prices because of the demand. It makes business since in the short run because they are making money on it, but in the long run it will come back to bite them because they are currently losing business from the middle class who refuse to come here right now because of the prices, and in doing so those middle class are choosing other vacation destinations instead and if they have a great time at those alternative destinations they will just keep going back to those places for the future because its a great time and more affordable. This will come back to haunt these greedy casinos/resorts in the long run…..
My car was hit in the Wynn self parking structure . $3,500 damage . First level and five spaces from entrance and they told me the cameras were broken .
It was my first time to stay just one night for a treat .
Shame on them – broken cameras 🙄
You both are amazing —- thank you so much
thanks! making record profits because they don't pay out anymore. it's so bad they have soured me on coming back. no fun watching your money go into a slot with no, nada, zip return. we round up reading in our rooms. lol 2020 and 2021 we had fun. still lost money but had fun. not anymore
Congrats to your wife for getting a Royal Flush on the cruise. I am still hunting for my first Royal in 2023. I hope the Oakland A's does not move to Vegas. Traffic is already a challenge in Vegas. Miss Vegas from pre-COVID and the cheaper buffets. I rent a car in Vegas to go off-strip to the Red Rock, Rampart, and South Point Casinos.
Great video guys !
Did you and your wife leave a good tip?
My kids were little in the late 90’s-early 2000’s and Vegas was a Really Nice place for a family vacation (we live in San Diego so it’s about a doable five hour drive)…Now? Nah!
The strip SUCKS now.
A baby boomer I agree Las Vegas was cheaper and safer when the mob ran it. Buffets were huge and so cheap the locals used them as it was cheaper than home cooking. The mob was so busy skimming they weren't worried about food and accommodation prices . Happy days!
I just discovered you guys a couple months ago. I really like your laid-back style and Las Vegas news I don't get elsewhere. I got my first and only Natural Royal at Binion's Downtown, but sadly I had spent most of my gaming limit and was playing a nickel machine, one nickel at a time. I was still almost as excited as I would have been playing $5 per hand. At least I didn't get dinged by the IRS.
