What a great video.
Groceries are great, the other 2 are useful, but the first year bonus makes this a great quarter, and pushed back the desire to add a Freedom to the lineup to get their current grocery bonus.
I have the AmEx BCP so the Groceries and Streaming Services categories are already taken care of. Drug Stores would be useful, but my FSA gets funded in January. FSA is essentially a 25% discount — not paying income tax on the income when spending on FSA-compatible items.
CFU CFF are both oofering 5% on groceries for the entire 1st year up to 12k total
Ben,
These are great categories for discover especially that grocery category. I spend way to much at grocery stores lol.
Who else liked it better when Discover announced all 4 quarterly categories for the coming year in November?
Capital One Quicksilver just added this:
"Earn a one-time $200 cash bonus once you spend $500 on purchases within the first 3 months from account opening. PLUS, earn up to $300 cash back by earning 5% back on gas and groceries for the first 6 months"
So that $300 extra in cash back equals $1,000/month for 6 months split between groceries and gas.
As someone with a family of four, I spend $800/month in groceries and $100/month in gas so just have to add another $100 to those two categories to maximize the sign up bonus.
Does the grocery category includes walmart and target? Or sam's club?
Chase Freedom also offers that currently as well
I'm using Samsung pay on the discover which is 5% for anywhere that takes digital payments
Fingers crossed so will flex
