You've got this travel hacking and stacking down! We're definitely going to link our Blue Business card to Amazon and try this. We use Rakuten and grocery store gift card purchases, but this is the next level.

I am seeing some better redemptions in low season at Marriott since the 14th, in places that don't have much of a seasonal price swing. In Ontario CA for Christmas, I can get 1+ cents per point, even better for Tampa in late winter. I'm sure these changes will hurt others at the higher tourist destinations, but I'm pleasantly surprised to find value somewhere.

I dropped the SPG business a couple months ago, tired of wasting my spend, but have decided to get the personal Brilliance for benefits. No more need to spend 35K a year just to keep Gold! Between it and the Delta Reserve, I'll have most of the benefits of a premium card, except with easy reimbursements.

Look for SUPERHOST rating when booking through Airbnb…sadly, there's no recourse for guests should a host cancel which can be devastating during peak travel periods.

Airbnb will only refund your ORIGINAL amount paid. Airbnb might refund guests a tiny bit extra in extreme cases where all other options cost ridiculously more, but this is rare.

Superhosts have a track record where cancellations don't happen. Guests have much less chance of a horror story with Superhosts.

As an advanced tip, for last minute stays, additional savings can be possible via price negotiations direct with hosts themselves. If you see plenty of similar options close together, send DM to several and see who is interested. The place will likely go unused anyways, especially if it's last minute and for short stays. Just make it a point to leave a very favorable review and note how the host went out of their way to accommodate you as a guest. This is excellent to use on nights where you simply just need to crash and have to leave early the next morning. I've had many guests use this savvy trick at my beach places and it's mutually beneficial, sometimes. I've only had to use this trick myself, as a guest, a couple times. The extra savings was worth it. It can work well during off-peak periods for long stays as well.

Many hosts rely on Airbnb's Smart Pricing feature which allows variable pricing. So what you see may not be what you pay, if host is agreeable.

Another awesome vid Dus, very dense with no fluff!

Great information. Just booked my first Airbnb stay tonight and realized they have a referral system for people new to Airbnb. If I had known beforehand I would have requested your referral code. You should put it in the description.

For international travel nothing really beats Airbnb but for domestic vacations including Hawaii nothing beats renting from a timeshare owner. Renting will usually save you 30-50%. Now for Mexico I do prefer to use hotel points even though there are some awesome vacation clubs like Grand Luxxe Vidanta that I will sometimes rent.

Great tips by the way. Airbnb and amazon gift cards are basically the ones I always try to get when I see those offers you mentioned.
