We look at the changes to the Uber Credit Card from Barclays. 4% on dining is gone and the earning on Uber rides has increased to 5%. It used to be the best cash back card for dining, but now that has changed.

I’m disappointed in the changes. The main attraction to this card for me was the 4% on restaurants and bars and 2% on online purchases and the actual cash back. Now I have to look for a replacement and see if Barclays might offer something I’d prefer and if they’d be willing to switch the card for me
Wish they at least gave options to redeem for other gift cards as well (may be at slightly lesser value)
It seems like changes could have been just new credit card itself, it's so much different now.
$50 streaming service discount is also going away after next card anniversary date ($5000 spend requirement)
Well that sucks. This was my go-to dining/travel cash back card. Capital One Savor it is!
If it had been this way from the start, it would be rational. However, now, it seems like they offered it as a cash back for 2 years to get lots of people to sign up, knowing they would bait & switch some day. Not cool.
Only worthwhile for low balance cancelation now
I have 9 credit cards from chase, Amex, discover, BoA, to Capital one….Believe it or not of all the credit cards I use it’s the SAVOR card I use the most..Not only is it unlimited 4% back on dining its also unlimited 4% back on entertainment…I was lucky enough to get grandfathered into the one with no annual fee..Def a major underrated card.
Just got this card last month, and I hit my minimum spend early last week, so I got my $100 bucks 🙂
Guess I’ll just use my Uber Card just for Uber services.
I remember when I got this got card for dining. It was the best and I got a $50 online subscription reward which was nice, but obviously now this card got downgraded in my opinion 😭
"Like" if you would like to "Grandfathered In" with the old benefits.
Lets get the word out! Who's with me! Grandfathered In! Grandfathered In!
Due to this coming update, I'm thinking of canceling the card. Is it safe and recommended to cancel a card I won't be using?
I'm fine with the new reward values. The removal of cashback is a deal breaker for me. Thankfully my 6 months of frequent traveling is nearing its completion and I'll be able to make my last few planned trips before collecting my cashback. With it gone, the card is going into my sock drawer for the next year or two. If cashback is still not an option at that point, I'll close the card. I rarely use Uber or any of their services, so UberCash does 0 good for me, unless I can get it in a gift card. If that's the case, I'll use the gift card as a gift.
But in short, the card is going into my sock drawer to be canceled in the later future.
When do the changes kick in?
I spent $19K over on this card. I loved it! I earned over $600+ cash back on this card. Not having the cash back is a deal breaker!!! I would be ok( not happy) with the changes if I still earned cash back.
I definitely feel betrayed with all of these changes! I am going to just not use the card much.
From best card to worst card, in an instant
Going to use the Hyatt card. Sock the Uber… Sucks.
I think The only Airline credit card that kinda works the same, is the TravelBank United card from chase.
Bad new card. The old card much better! It was a all around use card. My going to be hot! We don’t ride Uber at all we drive a Tesla . We eat out plus hotel .
I have it, and I'm not happy. Bait and switch!
Lol they shot themselves in the foot with this
I was thinking of going to the Savor, or Savor one, not only for the dining cashback but the fact that you can do a balance transfer. However, what I'm mainly looking for is the best balance transfer card that allows the highest credit limit available. Would this be one of the Savor cards, or something else?
I’ve had this card for a while, although I’ll be missing the percentages in cash back I actually use Uber heavily so I’m looking forward to this, good card for a New Yorker
U.S. Bank give you 5% on fast food
When do the changes take effect?
To make the $95 savor card worth it you would need to spend over $9500 at restaurants per year to break even with the free 3% card. 😭
What is JUMP?
I called Barclays & verified that the restaurant/bar bonus was going down to 3%. In addition it is no longer a cash bonus. It is a credit for Uber rides. I called Capitol One & applied for the SavorOne card. It is 3% CASH bonus, no annual fee & no int'l fees. While on the phone finishing the application process I received an e-mail from them that I was approved. So long Uber/Barclays. Sock drawer it is.
It's still better than the savor one. I would only cancel if they added an annual fee.
Does the UBER 5% apply world wide? I use a Brazilian Uber app.
Also can you earn 5% when you advance purchase Uber Ride credits? If so that's 10% back
( 5% CC & 5% advance purchase discount.)
This was my main go to card for eating out, I put all my dining/bar purchases on this card. I also loved the subscription credit, but all that is gone now. Taking this card out of the wallet and putting it away in the drawer.
Had enjoyed benefits while lasted. Just opened Savor credit card to replace Uber card.
Why would you not want 5% back on Uber Eats if you use the shit out of it already?? I'm in!
To anyone who has this card,
Does anyone know how to convert your points to cash if they have not yet reached the 2,500 point limit? I have 2,000 right now. I don't want them to convert to useless Uber points next month…
Yep I'm definitely redeeming my points and never touching this card again
Well I just transferred my points to my bank & still have to transfer two more times thanks to its limits… Chase Sapphire reserve, hello
I’m so glad I went with the propel instead of the Uber card.. canceling the card would suck!
Im assuming people arnt getting grandfathered in with the old stuff right?
Man! I wish I knew this before I wasted an inquiry for this! But I'll work with it, and get the bonuse then……..!
I doubt Uber will EVER be profitable!
Can you do a video on the fallout of Uber now switching all uber card users to the Barclays View? It’s not useful for me in any category, but the Uber card will soon be older than my average card, and it’s zero AF, so I’d like to keep it open. Hoping I can maybe product change it to something useful (ideally the Wyndham Earner+) but it sounds like that’s probably not possible.
