Hay sebb I find it interesting how you've been running this channel for 4 years plus or minus ballpark numbers I find it weird how you're always so conservative without you dressing your glasses I've seen like some people where I work at their always trending the hell out of themselves

4% cash back on dining is great, but this card is not for me because of a catch in the fine print. You can only redeem points for a statement credit or to a US Bank checking/savings account. This is not ideal for me since I would prefer to just get the cash back to my main checking account which is at another bank. (I do not prefer statement credits because it makes it harder to see how much cash back I am getting in terms of accounting, etc.)

Will apply for this Altitude Go card to supplement my Cash+ card. Also will get rid of my Uber visa card as I prefer statement credit instead of Uber credit. The only reason I kept Ubercard around was the no int'l exchange fee. Got to give USBank kudos for coming out with this Altitude Go visa card with no int'l exchange fee, no annual fee, and 4x dining – a top tier CC now.

I got denied for the Savor. They said I had too many inquiries yet they placed the last hard inquiry back in November after issuing me the Venture.

I've had the CO Savor card for a while now and I didn't even know about the SavorOne. I definitely don't spend enough on food/entertainment to justify the 1% different vs the $95 annual fee. Thanks for sharing this, really helped me out! 😊

I have US Bank Cash+, use Navy Amex More Rewards, have Amex Gold, don’t really have a place for this Go card. May work better for someone who doesn’t have these categories covered. I also bank with US Bank, FYI they offer free Checking Accounts to Veterans, monthly service fee is waived.

Skipping. AMEX Gold gets me to much value. Will use a lot of MR points when I start traveling again. US Bank would do well to allow people to consolidate their points to the Altitude Reserve if they really want to compete with Chase and AMEX. Good video, like the chapter marks. Mandy always a pleasure to see you commentary too!!

Tbh if you're under 5/24 I'd still get it since they're so inquiry sensitive. By the time 6 months to a year passes youd likely be under 5/24 again anyways

The big problem is that to redeem any cash back with US Bank cards requires you to have a US bank checking account, and the big problem with that is that they have a maintenance fee of $7 a month. And the big problem with that is, well…. It eats into your cash back……..

I'll probably get it in a few months to replace my Gold Card. But I dont want to cancel my Gold Card and loose the history. Since Amex doesnt call it a charge card anymore, do you think we can PC it into something else?

Reply
Daniel Rall June 13, 2020 - 5:05 am

High grocery spend probably still better off with Amex Gold. USBank still coming on strong with a good lineup.

Yes, you definitely have a voice change in the video. Try using a cough drop, remembered to stay hydrated through out filming. If you are struggling with post nasal drip, add a non drowsy allergy medication to your daily routine.
Keep up the good work! I would also suggest adding a photo of the cards for a visual aid 😊

Sebby, need to your advise on how to build relationship with US BANK. i've heard need a Checking Acc for their CC. however, few months ago, when I applied their checking Acc, they turn me down, and said if not in their branch area, need a relationship to open a Checking Acc. What should i do? Besides the new Go Card, any CC from US Bank can help me build the relationship?

Can you trigger the $15 annual streaming credit with a streaming service that’s cheaper than $15? And what counts as streaming? Kindle Unlimited is $9.99/mo and is often considered streaming by other cards. If that would work, it would be an even higher return on spend.

Sabre Leonheart June 21, 2020 - 8:51 am

I tried applying in branch at the grocery store and was denied with 6+ inquiries and around 5 accounts in 12 months.

Some DPs: US Bank USED to do recons for auto denies due to inquiries. They will NOT now. This policy was updated late in June I think.

I still have my 4% no annual fee Savor. Good ole Capital One

Yes, your voice does get a bit raspy near the end. And yes, this card is a full on grab for my cash back setup. Time traveler, and the bonus is now 25,000 points for $1,000 in spend. That’s about as good as you can expect from a no annual fee card. I was salty about Uber switching away from cash back, but now USBank has made it all better. 4% on dining and delivery is solid. Not having an annual fee also makes it easy for me to chuck it in the sock drawer during the quarters where my rotators (Discover IT and Chase Freedom Flex) have restaurants as an active category. The streaming credit is also a nice touch. I like that it’s complementary to one of the GO’s 2% categories. Are there cards with better streaming multipliers out there? Sure. My AmEx Blue Cash Preferred obviously has 6x for that, but total value depends on the monthly spend. Would I put a $90 monthly streaming service on this card (e.g. television streaming)? No. The BCP’s 6x will give me back $64.80 a year vs. $36.30 with the GO. But what about a $6.00 Hulu subscription? Absolutely. The BCP would return $4.32 a year vs. GO’s $16.44. All this, plus no foreign transaction fees, so I can earn 4x on dining if I travel. What’s not to like? If something else comes out in six months that’s better for dining…great! This one just takes up residence in that sock drawer (Why a sock drawer BTW?) permanently and I don’t even have to think about keeping it active (because it’s still processing Hulu for me every month). For cash back, I love it. I also think a time is coming that the points will transfer to the Altitude Reserve. Why else make it use points instead of straight out cash, as their Cash+ (another awesome cash back card) offering does? I see that it’s a downgrade path for fee carrying Altitude cards…but what? The bank just wants to make getting out of annual fees easier? That doesn’t sound right to me. Building a competitive “trifecta” does sound right though. So…fearless prediction. After the Altitude Connect drops (and possibly a little tweaking on the Reserve), USBank will drop the bombshell that all Altitude cards can share points. Give it a year. Also, quick data point. Instant approval with a 765 score and 7 hard inquiries (though only one credit card in the last 12 months). Great video Sebby. Sorry I missed it when it first ran.
