US Bank is releasing a new card called the Altitude Connect, according to rumors from Doctor of Credit. However, DOC was right about the last card US Bank released, the Altitude Go, so I would take the rumor seriously. Maybe this card can complete a trifecta and enable US Bank to compete with Chase, Amex and Citi?

I like US Bank cards. A person who doesn't travel could use a 2-card combo from US Bank and meet most of their needs.

– US Bank Plus for 5% on Utilities and cellphone bills.
– Fidelity Rewards Visa for 2% unlimited on all purchases. Owned by a US Bank subsidy, Elan.

I personally only get zero annual fee type of cards… so I will pass on this one… does this bank have any zero annual fee cards?

Would be an amazing trifecta if you could transfer points to the Altitude Reserve. But nope. Therefore, meh.

I’m curious your thoughts on Ollo’s invite only 2.5% cashback card with no annual fee 🤔 I need Shifu’s expert opinion!

Cannot recommend us bank credit cards. I gave a branch in Phoenix a 1- star on Google as their new manager was rude and useless. I had savings and checking accounts and two credit cards (always paid early and never paid minimums…780 credit score). The canceled my cards and closed my accounts saying their account agreement allowed this and they did not have to give me any reason…terrible and unethical!!

I still think USBank will end up doing a small tweak to the Altitude Reserve sometime in 2021 and then announcing that both the GO and Connect will be able to combine points with the Reserve. It makes sense because both of the new cards are using "points" as their reward currency, not just cash (as their very useful Cash+ card uses). They also bothered to brand them as Altitude cards, not just…"Bob's Cash Card". Those two things make me think that your "USBank Trifecta" is in the works.

The Connect seems like a good card, but I'm going to have to run some numbers to find out if it's worth the fee. Already get 3x on fuel with the AmEx BCP, and usually 5x for a couple quarters with Discover IT and Chase Freedom Flex. So while a steady 4x sounds good (and it is), how much will it move the cash back needle by making an extra 1% for six months of the year? Just for my own driving, probably about an extra $25. Add that to the $30 streaming credit, and even giving the Global/TSA credit a full $25 per year value…still only makes up $80 a year of the $95 in year two.

Once the points become transferable though…with an extra 50% added to fuel (effectively 6x), then I'd be using the Connect full time for fuel (1% over IT and FF, and 3% over the BCP) and be getting about $100 a year more using it…just for fuel. That means the streaming credit and the Global/TSA benefits…and all of the hotels and airlines I book would just be icing on the credit card cake. Though to be fair, I'd have to run numbers on the Altitude Reserve at that point as well. I'd only have to come up with $75 in value for it though (if they don't change the fee or travel credit).

Us bank needs to calm down with denials before they try a Trifecta, people with 6 figure incomes and 750+ credit scores are getting denied for being 1/6 or 2/12

Is it true that US Bank is really hard to get approved for? I’ve been doing a lot of reading on them lately. From what I’ve read, people are being denied for having 1 new card within the last 12 months. Can anyone confirm this? I am wanting to apply, however I’ve read a majority of people are denied when trying to get in with them.
UPDATE: just applied to the altitude GO & was approved for $4500 with no previous history with them.

The is is going to sound silly, but it would be cool if you did an A-F tier of all the credit card companies(or at least the ones you feel like worth mentioning) thanks Credit Shifu!

I'm getting very particular with my next card. I'm really looking at the most important features and benefits.

It must be dark blue, have a yellow edge, my name on the front and all other information on the back, and, most important, have an annual fee of $33.33.

I feel like US Bank easily can compete with Amex, and Chase if they’d not be sooo stingy on approving people for cards. Who the hell cares how many inquiries people have! They need to go off credit scores, and credit history

I used to work at U.S Bank and their credit cards are really good. But this card is very competitive to other $95 Credit Cards and I think it's worth it.
