US treasury bills or T Bills (T-Bills) now beat most bank accounts on interest rates. In this video I am going to show you how to buy T-bills which are a short term US government bond. Well technically not a bond, but a “bill” however “bond” is a better known word.

5:57 WELL IN MY OPINION i always say bank bonuses are most competitive in terms of liquidity investments because you can easily get 100s of dollars for a simple 2000$ deposit

When purchasing these are you able to use a credit card or is it a direct transfer through your bank account only? Thanks for the awesome content!

Wish could get some friends and family to buy in on the bond side. Though holding that up is not everyone has reliable internet and there is thous a wanting bonds on paper for EE in addition to the limited paper I bonds with tax refunds period. That and they want who goes though the will to have more than a printout for example with EE paper bonds in the will paperwork to show they need to cash them. They would buy if they would be able to buy at a bank and get them mailed to them like prior, a decade ago when they did get them.

Gotta love the ancient-looking government websites. T-Bills are definitely a powerful tool, especially in the economy we're in right now, so thank you for sharing this Ben!

These past few days watching my crypto portfolio decline is very disheartening. Holding doesn't really profit much. …Any ideas on how to earn better on the short run?

You can also buy them via standard brokerages like Charles Schwab and Fidelity. There are some pros and cons to buying them that way.

I could’ve used this a few months ago. I saw things that talked about the bonds and notes but not the bills that have the term I needed to save money for. Glad I know now, though.

The "investment rate" is the interest expressed as an annual number (~4% per yr / 52 weeks * 13 weeks) not ~4% over 13 weeks right? Double checking I understand. Thanks for the video!

The government is borrowing money to pay back the borrowed money from the others before. Sounds sustainable.

So you won't know the exact interest rate until the auction day, right?

So if I were to buy a $10k worth of the 13 week T-Bill at 4.169%, when the bill matures in 14 weeks, I’ll have earned $416 in interest?

Omg where were you with this video 5 weeks ago when I was struggling to learn and buy them. I bought them but wasn’t sure what they all meant 😂 maxed out ibonds and bought some 15k of T bills for I think 4 weeks as a test.

All the t notes bills or bonds should have no taxes. Taxing a 3-5% rate is ludicrous

So you transfer $400. Lets say you gain $15 in interest. After the 13 weeks, you automatically will have the $415 transferred to your bank account? Is that correct? And at that point, you can start the process again?

Wait, so you are buying treasury bills to pay the upcoming taxes that you may possibly owe to the US government?
