Vegas News: Staggering 70% Drop in Visitors, But It’s Not All Bad News! – Miles to Memories Vegas

by YouTube Team

The Las Vegas Convention & Visitor’s Authority released the June, 2020 #Vegas #visitor numbers (#Laughlin & Mesquite too) and as you might expect they were pretty bad. With visitors down about 70% it looks bad, but there are some surprising bright spots.

We’ll dive into how many people drove & flew here, how rates have been affected by current events, how many rooms are being filled and what this means for Vegas. Will the July numbers be any better? Check out my article for even more analysis.

You might remember Vegas has it was and you might love Vegas but it's not the way it used to be and it'll never get back the way you remember it there are still places closed and more to come and for the ones that are open they are paying out nothing to customers that are bringing cash bring a can of oil because the machines are so tight they squeak

In this walking video alone there are more people filmed not wearing masks or having them pulled down to their chin than wearing them. The visitors are walking by officers, and employees and no one's enforcing anything. I'm happy to bring my family back, and support my company's convention in Vegas again, but not until the tourists take this more seriously.

Hardly surprising when the USA have banned the UK and countless other Countries from entering the USA for Holidays.

Hi Shawn,
Another great video- thanks. I book marked the lvcva website. Interesting.
Hey I just wanted to commend you on another fantastic closing video. Looking East from Caesars toward the Eiffel Tower, panning left to Ballys and then Cromwell. So very few cars and slow moving too. Superior colors, excellent focus and not completely black at night (to coin a Stones song).

As a local I have to tell you this place is not worth it. It's like the mask police around here. Crap tables suck. Workers must be frustrated because they are just plain rude. A people are smoking at the slots and they tell at me to cover my face when I want to say something. when

The travel industry as a whole is going to suffer for some time due to this virus, and any business that dependent on the travel industry is going to hurting for any profits. Hopefully no one tries to make up the difference from what travelers they are getting.
Cruises, airlines and any major locations that are so dependent on travel dollars will be slow in recovery, and returning to pre virus employment and profits.
As for conventions and tradeshows business, those will be slower in recovery.
Just hope the businesses all slowly recover, and not too many will close up shop.

This is so heartbreaking.
I cannot imagine the impact this is having on casino employees and their families.
So many other businesses depending on tourism there, as well.
It makes my heart sick.

Thank you for this video. I live here in Las Vegas, and I see some businesses are creatively finding ways to make money safely and survive from this situation. We just need to all be responsible and maintain our distance until this thing blows over.

I was out the from 8/1-8/10 and the weekends had decent crowds and the strip was full-and most everyone wearing mask…required in the casinos-A definite fall off during week as you see in the videos the casinos are bare-i sat at a BJ table and dealer was asked if they wanted to go as they were sending workers home. The safety approach has been different at the various properties, where the Caesars properties that were open they limited participants at tables but no seat dividers-whereas at the MGM properties like Belaggio, I played craps with a 1"+ piece of Plexi glass dividing the players and that was the case at all their table game….playing BJ felt like you were playing at the bank teller window. Bars and clubs were closed so not much else going on but a nice week of gambling and golf. Plenty of hand sanitizer and some casinos have added hand washing stations. Biggest negative was that the trams, monorail between properties were shut down so you had to hoof it or rent a scooter for $45/24hrs

I’m scared to travel, but I figured all the people who don’t believe this virus is real would be vacationing. Most people in Texas will not wear mask. Hoping Vegas pops back soon.

Things will get worse, it's just getting started. Watch when the Gov quits printing money. The system is screwed because economy is no longer even allowed to correct itself. Rents remain unaffordable & wall street is propped up.

I was there for 5 days the last week of July, had a great time. 115 degrees lots of pool time. But the people keeping you safe are everywhere even out on the streets spraying, disinfecting, cleaning. Masks are mandatory in casinos not so much on the street but most still where them even in the heat. Plenty of people in casinos and out on the streets but not overly so, in fact a very nice experience. The real drag is no shows, no buffets. But Vegas is still a great desert town to vacation in.

I remember back during the financial crisis, they were giving away the rooms and entertainment. Let's say that a package was $500, they would give you $500 back in terms of food, drink, play, entertainment. How likely do you think this is going to happen again?

That's when I will next go!
