Episode Description
We learned some big news about #Mirage Las #Vegas this week that will see the end of two popular venues at the hotel when it changes ownership to Hard Rock later this year. The Dolphin Habitat and Secret Garden attractions are now permanently closed following a temporary closure after a dolphin died a couple of months ago. What will replace this
area under Hard Rock ownership?
In other #news you can save 50% off on many popular Vegas Cirque shows for Black Friday including the new Mad Apple, KA, Love and more. We also discuss the Raider’s potential new “Win City” slogan, food carts coming to the Strip, an update on the new downtown Wildfire Casino and we update you on the Resorts World robbery where they found a suspect who allegedly carried out the crime and returned to the scene.

@0:28 — the sign on the cart says "all meat hot dogs." Um…that's not specific enough…
Vegas is a cesspool now.
I'm really sad that the Volcano will be gone soon. During the last 2 months I watched it about 6 times.
Thanks again for the podcast. Im glad they found the criminal. I wish mark would do what the mirage is doing to the habitat and put the cris angel joke out of its misery.
Sports has even merged into something else unexpected. My church had been setting up Giving Machines in cities around the world since 2017. They’re vending machines but instead of buying drinks or candy, they’re donations for charities ranging in things like meals, goats, chickens, and now tuition for girls in Africa. They began putting these machines in Vegas at DTS in 2019, where Donny Osmond unwrapped them. They didn’t have them in 2020 due to the pandemic, but they came back last year and were unwrapped that time by Dan from Imagine Dragons. This year they had one of the Golden Knights players and the mascot (you can find videos of you do a search). Check them out if you’re in the area. I believe they put them near the Macy’s.
I work at Mirage & they are in limbo~ expecially for conventions, they can't expect anything from MGM & Hard Rock can't really do anything with them yet. It's going to be a strange few years. Mirage has been living off thier past glory for decades~ the HR change is a good one.
You guys do a great job!
I get the food/cart vendors are simply trying to make a living, but it needs to be put in a designated area not just some random corner where they feel like they can set up due to high foot traffic. The strip needs to tackle this early on and set aside a block where carts and food trucks can set up and be regulated. Brick and mortar restaurants are held to a certain standard to minimize the risk of foodborne illnesses, so some type of food safety standard/regulation must be established and be complied with. If you think about it, these vendors do not have running water or sanitation area to clean and maintain their utensils and what have you. If there's ever a serious contamination that affected a few people – who do you hold responsible since they're mobile unlike a B&R restaurant. Can anyone remember Secret of Siam?
Ok, I'll get off of my soapbox. 😀
See the Mirage in National Lampoon's Vega's Vacation
Sad I'll never stay at the Mirage again. Been staying there 1-2 times a year since 2000. Going to have to find a new home in Vegas.
It was inevitable that the Secret Gargen would vanish. These days, it's all about maximizing the profitability of every square inch (e.g., eliminating that open area in front of Ballys by installing a hideous cheapo, cramped shopping area).
Cirque runs periodic sales, actually. Join Club Cirque and you'll get notices. That said, 50% off is really good.
Rule No. 1: don't take your getaway cab back to your home.
Mark is correct: you don't find too many Phi Beta Kappa winners in prison.
I would love to see another hotel on The Strip feature a "Mirage-like" vibe with tropical theme. I imagine it will eventually reappear as everything old is new again. I have memories of my parents escaping from the cold here in Canada in February to stay at The Mirage in Vegas in the 90's. Mirage was very cool and I as an adult later in life, enjoyed seeing Matt Goss and Wayne Newton live in Cleopatra's Barge Bar Show Room. Carnegie's Deli was also a winner! I will miss The Mirage. I hope the Hard Rock does a good job of creating a great adult experience on the Strip. RIP Mirage.
Get tickets and see Michael Jackson One! It is amazing.
ty for the update i like the wild fire look foward to seeing it
Sad it is shutting down, enjoyed my time there, but must admit it was due for a make over.
mirage room prices are shot the next 2 months , i’m tempted to book but feel like i’ll be setting myself up for a subpar stay
I would rather starve than get food from a cart on the Strip. If it was the size of the Hello Kitty Cafe by Park MGM sure but a small push cart?
Tacos El Pastor is a rival to Tacos El Gordo. Everybody talks about El Gordo, but I like El Pastor better. I went to the location across from Resorts World.
I think it is sad, sucks when you grow up there and there is Nothing to go back and see. Freaking guitars, Hard Rock sucks.
Lmfao these white guys! Hahhahaaha
Question about the food carts: Do they have a permit to sell food on the Strip? What would happen if someone gets sick and the person sues them? Even the hot dog carts in Mexico look more modern like Mark said. It's a shame that the Mirage will change to the Hard Rock but what can we do?
P.S: Happy belated Thanksgiving from Mexico.
Disclaimer: The photo of the hot dogs in the carts of sausages rolled in bacon, kinda reminds me of the Sonoran style hot dogs. Shawn and Mark should try these hot dogs which of consists of a sausage rolled in bacon and grilled that is served in a bolillo-style bread and topped with beans, onion, tomato and other additional ingredients like mayonnaise, ketchup, guacamole, mustard, chili peppers, mushrooms or chili-based hot sauces.
I missed what you were saying. Durango??
Thanks
I’m going to really miss the Mirage. Just walking into it lifts my spirits.
So does the Golden Nugget.
It would really be disappointing if Hard Rock ends the Beatles/Love show. Replace it with what? Can't do better than that show. Seen it 3 times. Besides, a rock music themed casino/resort would a perfect match for the show. Made for each other.
Sad to see Mirage go. 🔥🔥🔥
But we believe in Hardrock 🖤🖤🖤
I"m actually glad that the Secret Garden is closing. They have a horrible record when it comes to the dolphins there. I admit that I once did a Trainer for a Day thing before I knew more about dolphins in captivity. That was in 2007 and I worked with almost every dolphin there and at this point in time every one of them has died except for about 2 plus some who were born after I was there. 16 in total have died in their care.
When The Supreme Court allowed it up to the state to allow sports gambling a couple years ago, that opened up the flood gates for all major sport to come into Vegas.
I’m glad they are closing the secret garden/dolphin habitat. It doesn’t belong in LV. I hope they use the land for other purposes than a pool such as additional shops and restaurants since the Mirage only had a couple of shops and restaurants. Maybe a food court similar to Resort World would be good here.
