Welcome to MtM #Vegas – Our weekly look at the cool #news and happenings in Sin City.

This past week was Halloween and naturally Vegas had some unique offerings for the holiday. Our favorite was the Vegas Vickie costume contest where people dressed up like the iconic neon statue for a chance to win $10,000. Many of the costumers were awesome.

In other news we learned that the Strip had record gaming revenues for the 3rd quarter, taking in over $2.1 billion. That didn’t stop Caesars from losing money, however things are moving in the right direction for them. In other news rents are at astronomical records in Vegas right now, KISS is out and Buble is in for residencies, the new minor league arena is disappointing and is Sands building a new casino in New York City?

Thank you to our hosts Shawn and Mark. Can’t believe those gaming revenues. Maybe it is explained by all of us getting out after being cooped up. Kind of like passenger-cruise ships where I live. The industry is seeing a lot of passenger bookings now and in 2022 and 2023.

Ceasers issues is there paying there executives wayy too much also cosmo sold for so much cause it's one of best properties in Vegas they have nothing even close and plus I'd buy mirage over anything ceasers may sell. All resort world has to do to compete is drop the resort fee give people a reason to go there since nothing is around

Wow! I had no idea the rents were that high at L V. No bargain there. You’re in competition with some of these beach properties here at SE Florida. Too bad for the “working stiff.”

Sands pulled out of Vegas and bet big on Texas and lost so they wanna find a new big market to dominate.

Let’s see. Record gaming revenue while mask mandates are in place. I would bet revenues wouldn’t be hurt that much if non smoking mandates were in effect. Cleaner air, less clean up by housekeeping, less stress on air filtration and healthier employees. Sounds like a no brained.

I think this is why Caesars is losing money . Look at Derick Stevens Circa is one of my favorite casinos. I’m 60 years old I go there to drink gamble and to eat . No Gucci no high end stores and just think how many people showed up for the Vegas Vicky contest free entertainment that’s what most people want

Caesars has several issues. They seem to have a significant amount of debt do the number of buyouts and takeovers they've had. Caesars World (Luma Inc) owned Caesars Palace and then was bought by the Hilton formed Park Place Entertainment, who bought out several other companies on the center strip. They were then bough out by Harrahs, who changed their name to Caesars Entertainment, and then got bought by El Dorado Resorts (who changed their name to Caesars Entertainment). All of that ownership change has occurred over less than 25 years, and with each purchase the new owner took on more debt to finance the massive accumulation of properties. They've increased the quantity of their portfolio, but not the quality. Paris is their youngest property and it was opened in 1999. So they have a bunch of debt, aging properties that compete for the same customer pool, and they are cutting corners and being cheap….its not a shocker that they can't turn a profit.

Gaming revenue should continue to rise with the return of Europeans after Nov.8th.
I think they're eager to return to Vegas.

Rent in central Florida is up 1k over the last couple years. So a 2 bedroom that was $1000 to $1100 in 2019 is now $2100 to $2300. This seems suspect to me. If so many markets are seeing the same things. Then wouldn't it make sense that the markets all these people are moving from would be seeing their rents drop? But I see no news of that. Just mid size city after the next with high property costs and rent.

Circus Circus could have a clown mascot contest and a Halloween clown contest. CC could also get a classy renovation and add a Cirque clown show. The Dollar Loan Center kinda looks like a jail.

Vegas casinos beetch when convention revenues are up and gaming is down and now they are beetching when gaming revenues are up and convention revenues are down. People working in Vegas say conventions are good for the hotel but bad for the casino.

The Sands Corporation wanting to go into New York makes sense, especially since any casino built would open after sports betting is legal there. The land is cheaper compared to other areas, and they would be displacing more businesses than homeowners via eminent domain.

Considering that Resorts World has an awful casino floor in the middle of a soulless airplane hanger, complete with tight slot machines, it's no wonder it has to lure visitors by paying outlandish sums for people like Michael Buble or Katy Perry. Offering locals deep discounts on their rooms is at least one way to bring some humanoids into the property.
