Note for the public, what ever the government says the percentage of anything is, double or triple that percentage. 9 times out of 10 the government is lying or misleading people.

You would be surprised, people typically spend more on entertainment during market down turns.

I just loaded up on debt: a modest house at 3.8%, a commercial lot at 5%, and solar at 1% interest. As long as real inflation stays above these levels, I'm in no hurry to pay them off. The rest of my money is in Gold, Inflation adjusted bonds, and am buying the dip in crypto, with exceeding volume on the way down.

For you it's worse than your spreadsheet. Eventually you're going to move to a new home or buy a new car, so those aren't really fixed over the long haul and both have gone up a lot!

Your spreadsheet seems to be super helpful. I didn’t realize that this was how inflation was calculated today so this video taught me something! Great video as always

Most everything we're told by the federal govt, is a lie. Lying seems to one of the few things they do well.

I buy pouches of Friskies wet cat food for the 6 homeless cats I’ve been feeding for over 10 years. Just a few days ago a box of 12 was $8.99 at Target. Today that Target was OUT of them and the other Target locally had them at $10.99, a $2 price increase in less than a week !
I have to feed them wet food because the 5 cats live by a creek and the area is infested with dry cat and dog food obsessed raccoons who push the cats out of the way of dry food while they are eating it.
As we drove home we saw premium gas at $6.99 & for the FIRST time, diesel was at $7.39 !
For cash, not credit.
Highest price I’ve seen so far.
Thanks Joe Biden !
Not !
Who is still blaming the oul price on Putin & big oil.
Trump in 2024.
Impeach Biden/Harris in 2023 when the GOP takes over Congress.

At the current rate, CPI inflation will reach 9% in Sept.

It's ridiculous to call it a LIE.
CPI is an estimate of inflation intended to be used for comparative purposes.
Did you consider that maybe they made changes to the index to make it more useful?
Calling it a lie implies they could publish the truth if they wanted to… which is a fantasy. It's always going to necessarily include estimates, assumptions and judgement. Because real inflation is different for everyone. There is no perfect way to calculate inflation for the entire country
