Didn't know about the credit crunch – I work for the federal government as a mechanical engineer. Got the Sapphire Preferred & the Freedom Unlimited approved minutes apart the week of 5/24, so that's a vote of confidence. I am already late to the points game, so FOMO is the default.
The risk of waiting on the sidelines is that they'll raise the bar higher after the COVID-19 crisis.

so I majorly screwed up my credit (medical bills I couldn't afford and student loans i never paid because I was just dumb) and the only cards I can get are secured credit cards and I am fixing my credit slowly, but what credit score do I need before I should start applying for unsecured credit cards?

Applied for the Discovery it cash back card and the chase sapphire reserve. Only got approved to the Discover, I'm pretty sure it was the order of applying. I should have done the Chase first.

I'm waiting until after August to apply for a new credit card since a few hard inquiries will be dropped off of my credit report by then. I've never had issues getting approved for decent to good cards even when my credit score was bad for some reason

Sebby, I'm looking to get the Amex Blue Cash Preferred to my arsenal. My score is in the above 670 and I'm waiting till my score is above 700. This will be my 1st venture into Amex. Do you think waiting till my score is in the 700s is the "right move?" I have a card with my credit union and Cap One now but want to seek better cash back options.

I applied for the chase freedom unlimited and got approved with my credit at 553 now it’s 620 a month later I was hella surprised and honestly I was just applying to see what would happen and I was terrified to address my credit in the black community credit is like a scary thing but it’s really not that bad if you face your bad credit

Hello, I filed for bankruptcy in 2013, should drop off in 2022. Is it true I can remove it earlier?

Applying for chase business as a sole proprietor is really tight right now. I got denied for CIC. I already have 5 chase personal CC including reserve and one business ink with 830 Experian credit score. I usually got instant approval when applying. I'm currently on 3/24.

I recently got the CSR mostly because of the opportunity cost of not earning the points on purchases I’m already going to make and all the points I can rack up ( and won’t be using because of the Rona!) and use at a later time.
