The currency video will be helpful.
I agree with you. I'm a total rebuilder; I had a credit slip seven years ago but I agree so many people don't take the time to calculate the value of what they think those points will be worth. I'm a cash back junkie who's earned over $400 in sixteen moths. Finally got a targeted offer with Delta Gold for 70,000 SkyMiles for $2,000 spend in 3 months. Less than one month in; I'm 68% done. I got some friends and paid their power, cell, water bills on my card then deposited cash and instant repayment upon posting to the Card. But 70,000 Skymiles plus the 20,800 I already have is a huge bonus to me. They also offered and prequalified me for the Hilton cards. I did the math but most of the hotels I looked at have like basically .0023-.0029 value per point. Like 46000 points for a room that costs $133 a night or 150,000 points for a $350 a night room. Even with 6x multipliers that's still only .014 to .018 value making it worth less than Cap One QuickSilver at it's lower value. I hope people take your advice and do the math. Thank you for your content.
Hey Sebby, you mentioned the mortgage issue if you plan on applying with the next 6 months. I’m in a tough spot. I have relatively low spend and also expect apply for a mortgage in the next 6-12 months. I was targeted for the 125k Amex platinum and can hit that $5k in 6 months but I will have no use for that card next year. Once most of sign up bonuses and perks run out. The downgrade paths aren’t great options especially when I’m just in it for the sign up bonus. I don’t have enough spend to justify the higher Amex annual fees (certainly not multiple of them). I’m very much a maybe fly 2-3 times a year person and coach always (never business or first class). The Schwab platinum to cash out is interesting. I’m having a hard time not taking advantage of that offer. I’m newer to the CC game and been using a chase setup for sign up bonus purposes. This 125k offer seems too good to pass up
Just got the Hilton aspire card!
I wish I would have known you have a referral code for Transferwise! I just signed up for it today to pay my VAs in the Philippines!
My plan is to keep working on foundation cards so when I can travel more I can have more points to use and also do some bonus hunting
I just found your channel. You do a fantastic job at presenting beneficial information. I subscribed and gave you a like!
Yes, please make a video on using MR points with transfer partners.
Love the videos!
Would love a video on amex point redemption
The last card I got was the Windom Business credit card. A few couple of months back because I could status match with Caesars. I also get Windom diamond status i’m 45,000 points. No I’m not applying for anything because I’m looking to get a mortgage pretty soon interest rates are too good
+1 for a video on best strategies for redeeming points, especially if things are better in 2021 (business/first cabins reopen or points and miles systems change). Also, I though Revolut would be cheaper overall compared to Transferwise? I just checked USD/SGD and it came out ahead
I was not planning on getting a new credit card this year and was planning on getting a home next Summer. But that 100k offer from AMEX was too hard to pass up. I should be good by June when it comes time to get a home, since it will be 7 months.
You got to be kidding me right now:
Video upload on 20th Dec 2020: Why NOW Is the Best Time to Get AMEX Cards
Video upload on 22nd Dec 2020: Why You SHOULDN'T Apply for a Card Right Now
I agree with a lot of what you said. I did jump on the JetBlue offer because it gives me a full year to earn the second half of the sign up bonus and I’m really (really really really) hoping to travel again in the summer and fall of 2021.
I was holding off on new cards for the longest time this year because it was so discouraging not to be able to book trips with the points I already have. I'm still hesitant to book award flights in 2021. But I did get the Amex Platinum bc the 100K offer, 10x on groceries, and referral bonus for my husband was too good to pass up.
Ive used the referral link for transferwise. Right from the link I was able to see the discount, but when I created account(from the same referral web page) I don't have anymore this discount(
Please do a video on the more intricate ways of using MR points. I’m one to realize of a single transfer use is not the value of expect.
So no on the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant?!
Please make that video on how to use the points!
Good video as usual Sebby. Random question: what setup are you running behind you? I like how you got your monitors and laptop set up. Thanks
If using transferwise for money transfer with credit cards do you know if it'll post as a cash advance or purchase, or will that depend on the credit card you use
Don't forget (after COVID of course) MR can be used for short Delta flights sometimes for great deals at the last minute. Or that used to be the case pre-COVID
I’m concerned about the ability to use points in the future. But the CSP 80k and Amex plat 100k + 10x were too good to pass up. I’m hoping there’s enough flexibility within MR/UR points that I could find a sweet spot. If not I could get the Amex plat Charles Schwab to cash out or chase portal to book flights or hotels (hotels where I don’t care about status). I want to get the Amex bonvoy card but I already have too many points and airlines credits etc
I’m right now in a tough place where last month I applied for the CSP 80K offer and got approved to then find out the Chase Flex grocery 5% back offer ends supposedly on January 13th. I want the card badly but I think I’m not going to get approved 😢
I would love to see a video series explaining each currency and how to actively use them for best value!
Nice segue to Transferwise! But yeah, I'm accumulating lots of points and I'm going to be doing a LOT of travel in about a year!
I don't know anything about MR or UR points would love a separate or long detailed video for those two topics. Thanks Sebby and happy holidays to everyone
I have a question, so I have the Amex Plat Charles Schwab. I got approved for it on 11/24/20. I tried applying for the regular Amex Plat, but my application wasn’t denied but canceled. I called Amex and they said their computer system doesn’t recognize the difference between the two and it’s thinking that I’m trying to get the same Regular Plat Card. I saw the sign up bonus offer of 100k points. What should I do?
The mortgage point is so important to keep in mind. I’m on the hunt for a plane and I’ve been so tempted by the 125k Amex Platinum offer but I’ve held off
I just got three cards a week ago and I've been in Colombia for two weeks. Travel is still happening and I believe you shouldn't allow fear to keep you from doing what you want right now. It feels horrible coming back to the US after being in Colombia, where people seem to be out and about as per normal.
Very helpful as always, I just got my Chase Freedom Flex Card in November. As of now just have two cards, but looking to get my third credit card which will be the Amazon Prime card once my current inquiries are gone.
do cash back bonuses! bbva select credit card had a deal offering $1000 cash back 2 weeks ago
I have been considering applying for my first AmEx card but I’m going to hold off for now. I don’t hit the spend level to justify the annual fee. No need for MR points. Thanks for your videos.
I haven’t seen my wife since March, I really wanna go travel
How long does it take to recover from the hard pull credit when your open a new account?
Lots of great wisdom shared in this video, just like all the great wisdom you share in your other videos. I live in Canada, and I'm very happy with my current credit cards. I have no plans to apply for more credit cards this upcoming year, but I'll see what happens. Happy new year to you and Mandy.
I got my CFU in June and I’d like to get CSR or CSP but I need to wait since I’m planning to buy a house early next year.
Yes, make videos on how to use amex points
PLEASE MAKE A AMEX POINTS REDEEM VID SEBBY
Just got the Amazon Prime (Chase) card. I won't apply for anything else until maybe June 2021.
