Give the money directly to the people! We will decide which corporations to support our damn selves!

Payroll tax cuts don’t help those of us who lost our jobs, or those who are struggling RIGHT NOW. If we aren’t given stimulus checks for May, we will already be a month or more behind on bills when we go out job hunting or return to work if you are one of the lucky few to still have a job. It’s simple. Don’t complicate things. We need money. Not special conditions on our hypothetical incomes that we’re not receiving right now.

The payroll tax cut is so freaking stupid!! Just because you do that it doesn’t mean that every freakin business is going to just automatically be booming and will need to hire everybody back or even open because it will still not be worth it. What is a restaurant that has 20 to 30 employees going to have everyone back working if they will still for the most part just be serving carry out and even if they open they will not be a able to fill their place because of distancing and all these things and even if they don’t have any restrictions what is to say that people will just start popping in like crazy which is unlikely because people would be super cautious. Now take that and apply it to almost every other work place and you will get the same thing.

3 democratic proposals for monthly payment or another Stimulus check. 1 republican proposal to cut payroll tax instead.
FACT. there will be a compromise.
My Thought: We will get another check.

Here's the thing, yes members of Congress are considered essential, but it takes an army of staffers to keep Congress functioning at full capacity. And it's the staffers who started getting sick in late February and early March, which further endangers their bosses. The average age of a senator is 61, for house it's 57. And their bosses don't always allow them to work from home when Congress is in session. Unless Congress can work on some kind of teleworking arrangement, they need to heed advice from experts on when and how to reopen.

You have not considered that COVID-19 is hitting its peak in Washington DC at this time. Further, you cannot understand what it would be like if 1/4 to 1/3 of our elected officials died. It could mean a breakdown of the entire system.

If they're telling us to stay home and half the country is still out of work, how are we supposed to benefit from payroll tax cut if we don't have a freaking payroll??! We are staying home because there is a pandemic. We have been told to stay home. No one wants to get this virus. How is cutting payroll tax going to help people if they have no job to have a payroll?!!
