Fortunately for our family and many of our friends AMEX waives AF for Military.

I'd say the annual fee would not be $795.95

if you have to do this much math to justify the card then its not really worth it – if you just want it to flex and burn cash its a good option

Hi Sebby, I actually have the business platinum card and you can apply the Adove credit just for Adove PDF. In my case, it costed me $199 and received $150 back.

Do people really spend that much on Dell products? 400$ every year on what ?

Thanks for the video! I would guess they will add more partners in the “digital entertainment credit” category, even before they hike the annual fee. Current offerings are not appealing to a lot of people. But a partner like HBO max or Netflix will definitely be a welcome addition. Also, it’s pretty lame that Amex makes you pay extra for primary car rental CDW insurance— which I recently realised. For a $695 card, that to me is insane. They would want to add that for for free too. It would be interesting to see if they change the multipliers for point redemption like CSR.

Adobe is worthless, Indeed is worthless, clear is marginal if not zero. Dell effectively is forcing you to spend $400 a year with them. Maybe I dont want to spend a dime with Dell. Their prices are high and I am pretty set with the equipment we have. If I dont get retention we are closing it.

Do you remember the rumors about another AMEX card with a high annual fee? It might be the time for it and keep the platinum as it is.

If you have a business that over 2 millions of purchase expenses, then it is a no-brainer that this card is probably the best one. Otherwise, $695 annual fee does not make sense at all regardless of its perks and benefits. On the personal side, Schwab branded is the best one if your portfolio value is over $1M.

This is why I refuse to "upgrade" my Blue Sky card. They constantly try to get me to change cards. No annual fee on Blue Sky.

Why would you use CLEAR if you have Global Entry

I have a question. If you have both a gold and a platinum do the point go to the same account? Are they the same reward points?

I'm cancelling my plat card in Feb. No point keeping this card anymore. All of the credits were hard to use, amex lounge I used in past were all too busy and not relaxing, and with the fee increase not worth it anymore.

Considering these price hikes, have you ever considered making a video about card downgrading? Benefits, tradeoffs, options?

For someone living in the midwest I'd like less city centric credits perhaps more delivery service credits if it goes higher it won't make much sense for me anymore especially now that I'm traveling so much less for work.

The fine hotels and resorts is enough for me to get positive value im still going to cancel though and probably get the regular version. The business version has to many useless credits the price is too high. What a shame I’ve had this card for years

So my company has gympass, then I can get access to equinox SF sport club with only 250, and AMEX plat equinox credit can only be used towards regular membership monthly, so 325-25=300. Completely useless for me.

I was targeted for the Amex Platinum Card and was offered 125,000 points. That made it worth it for me to pay the $695 annual fee, and since I travel a lot it’s been very useful with the lounges. But I just can’t fathom having it for another year, it’s way to much for what you get. I will be cancelling next year

The Platinum card is a joke, why bother with it? There are better options, all those discount offers and credits are nonsense.

Rafael Flores January 13, 2022 - 3:46 pm

One of my goals last year was to apply and get approved for the Amex Plat, yeah the fee is pretty high. I just think that for me it is worth it. I really use this card with joy.

I had to call AMEX due to a merchant issue with Macy's, regarding my Gold card. As we were wrapping up the call, the client service specialist indicated that she saw a pre-existing approval to upgrade to the Platinum card. When I told her that I wasn't interest, she was taken aback. She then went on to list all the "benefits" which is supposed to make the annual fee of $695 worthwhile. I had to break it to her that NONE of those 'perks' are ones that I'd ever take advantage of. I travel very little by plane, I don't frequent concerts or sporting events and the cost of Equinox membership is probably equal to five years of my Planet Fitness membership. Honestly, the Platinum car (to me) is more to do with a bling factor than anything else.

I’ve been using platinum amex for years and don’t think I take advantage of even 20% of the benefits. Probably will cancel it soon but try to use the points before then
