I've avoided basically every place that tries to charge extra for using a credit card unless I'm buying something very specific from that place. The vast majority of the time it just makes no sense buy from a place that charges extra. I don't see this trend helping businesses and instead could leave many in ruins if not careful.
I was at the Indiana State Fair, And some of the vendors was charging a one dollar extra, for using debit or credit…I THOUGHT IT WAS UNFAIR. I GOT A MUSHROOM 🍄 ONIONS 🌰 TIPS… IT COST $15.. BUT, AFTER USE MY CREDIT CARD, $16… I didn't eat it there, I took it home, Which that was a mistake, it gave me the poops……number 2…😟🥴😕 bottom line, eat it there, Don't take it home…
hey sebby what hair pomade do you use?
I was in the Florida Keys and had this happen twice at 2 private businesses. One I was just buying shirts, charged me 2.7% more, second business I purchased sandals and it was 3% more. They hid this fact until I noticed the total, I gave the first one a very hard time about not being transparent up front. Second place had it posted and I said nothing
I live in Brooklyn, NY, the bakery that I buy my bread charges 4% if u use a credit card, I switched to a different bakery that charges no fee for cards & buy the bread 🍞 which costs $4, I use my TDcash rewards card & earn 3% cash back 😁
Two businesses I use, One an Auto Shop and good so use Debit, one a wine/liquor shop, pretty much went elsewhere, < 2% of my business,
I will stop going then
Before the Pandemic the media was pushing the narrative that businesses were moving to cashless transactions and that the world was moving towards a cashless society. Funny how things change.
If it gets bad you can move to Massachusetts 🙂
"According to Massachusetts General Law, Chapter 140a, Section 28a(2), “no seller in any sales transaction may impose a surcharge on a cardholder who elects to use a credit card in lieu of payment by cash, check or similar means.”"
When you did the math you only did the product, there is electricity, employee, insurance, rent or mortgage, etc. You can't just look at the % of the product. I'm a fan but there is more involved.
A credit card fee will have a huge effect on where I will shop. My dentist has a 3% fee on credit and I’m shopping for a new dentist.
Well for me …Charging fees for credit card ..I have a alot … I will re-evaluate my cards .. see what card is worth using .
The cards that have annual fee …I might close them or pay in full with no use …eventually only using the cards that have the most rewards ….I think credit cards have alot to loose …when we can just use debit or shop less.
This is so true the government should do something about this
Yes I’d stop shopping there.
Cash discount is better
I stopped shopping at small businesses
I never shop at corner stores/bodegas. I only grocery shop at established regional chains, and also only shop retail at major retailers and/or Amazon…These places will never nickel-and-dime their consumers per transaction…I'm good.
Charging an additional fee for credit cards will go against the contract that they have with credit card companies.
It’s cus they all pushed the stupid pandemic ! Not the consumers fault !
I suspect we will move to a cashless society where all your transaction are tracked and scrutinized by the government. Cash will become mostly illegal aside from a few specific cases.
I would never shop somewhere if I can’t use my credit card for the protections alone lol
